Charisma at 1?

I'm thinking of loading a earlier save and starting over now that I have a small taste of what to expect.

If I set my Charisma at 1, how can I increase Companion Nerve later so my companions won't be total pushovers when I meet them?

Also if I raise Speech and Barter, does it matter that Charisma is set to 1?

You could increase Charisma through the implant, Intense Training or temporarily through alcohol. Charisma won't have any other effect on Speech or Barter aside from the start.

And what about Companion Nerve? The game never explains anything really about it. Will low Charisma affect companions health when I first meet them?

Alcohol and Mentats before combat. But don't drink and drive!
