chars have to sleep in skyrim?!

Post » Mon Jun 14, 2010 9:51 pm

What would be if characters in skyrim need sleep (food, hygiene...)
example: your character hasn't slept for 3 days. that effects in a low stamina...

in oblivion the only thing i used beds for was leveling. i only used the waiting function in quests or if i wanted to wait for the next day/night...

A day in Morrowind/ Oblivion was about 30 minutes in real time.
Now if you had to sleep, that would likely be reduced to 20 minutes. Hell no.

Anyway, poll is biased.

Where is the 'optional' option? Maybe one time I'd like to play hardcoe, and another not. Also, I think there is already tons of threads for this.

The better question is should users search before making a new thread? The answer is yes. And optional please.

I'd rather not be forced to sleep. I'd like to play a game, not perform a series of chores.

This. That being said, not like I play more than about 5 days at once and part of that is sleeping because of mentioned quests, healing and level ups anyway.

I did not vote in this, but I rather liked the idea that PC's had to sleep to level up. Its a good example of mechanics labeled as a plausible event.

Agreed. I would also love to see a hardcoe mode where you would have to sleep, but other than that it would just slow the game down too much for a lot of people.

Do it with the daily fatigue system of Daggerfall. You had to rest at proper intervals of exertion or you'd pass out from exhaustion. You could rest anywhere but in town or near enemies, so you'd have to get a hotel room in cities. It wasn't difficult or a hassle, and would fit perfectly into Skyrim.

Poll is biased and No i dont want it to be i just think they should have a hardcoe mode for people who want to play that way and people that dont but seriously having to sleep daily would svck no matter what, why do you think they didnt do it that way in hardcoe mode in fallout N.V?

Edit: ^^^ you do have to sleep in FO:NV, just not daily. I dont think having to sleep every day is a good idea either though, but what NV has is pretty good.

With what Obsidian did with New Vegas I am very hopeful that Beth will look at that and include a similar mode for Skyrim. I mean Im playing on the PC and theres always immersion mods like this(the reason why Obsidian did it) for me anyway, but I imagine theres some consolers out there who might want this kind of option too.

Yes we should have to sleep, just not in a realistic fashion. That would be way too much considering the day cycle in the game with sped up time. Pretty much exactly the same system as in FONV, but with rads (radiation) management replaced with cold (hypothermia). If we don't have sleep, and need for it, why would we then even *have* beds? The amount of free beddings we got was ridiculous considering we never *needed* to use them (other than levelup).

Pretty much *everything* in the game should have a purpose, just like in FONV. That creates gameplay and adds great depth to the game. I really don't understand those who just want questing away like crazy. Plenty of other games for that. About time we get some depth to TES as well. Never did I think of need management in FONV as tedious. There is food, water, and bedding pretty much everywhere you look. But it still needs to be done I think.

24 in game hours shoud mimic atleast 60 minutes in real life and even then the sleeping thing should be part of survival/realistic mode, there are many players who want this but just as many who don't.

C: Only in (if present) some sort of optional hardcoe/realism/"extreme roleplay" mode.

Your maximum stamina capacity should very slowly decrease until you sleep.

But really, we'll be sleeping alot more in Skyrim since we'll want to level up to get those perks. Not like Oblivion, where I went half the main quest without sleep to avoid the level scalling and get those stat bonuses.

Let's not make SIMS out of TES please...

EDIT: You had to sleep if you were to level up,so consider it having a tough day and waking up feeling stronger and better the next day.

Absolutely. I'd love it, but I understand that it would be tedious and annoying for other gamers. Didn't vote.

When playing hardcoe on Fallout New Vegas, I did find it pretty cool to have to sleep and act all realistic and whatnot.

However, it did become more of an annoying chore than anything. After beating the game on hardcoe, I decided to turn it off so I didn't have to constantly interrupt my fun by going to find a bed.

If you want your character to sleep, use your imagination and go use a bed for the night. I don't see the harm in that.

Yes I want it, but the game time needs to last a lot longer than it did in Oblivion without mods. At least twice as long. It could be an optional feature.

Should your Skyrim character have to poop?
Yes, a character who holds it in 24/7 is not real. (43 votes [59.72%])
No, my character has unlimited constipation!!!! (29 votes [40.28%])

Another poorly made poll, every poll should automatically include an "other" option.

I hate to break it to you but a character isn't real. Why people have such a fascination with adding things like having to sleep, eat, bathe, etc. is totally beyond me. If you want to deal with all that just stop playing games, voila! If I play games I don't want time wasted doing chores that are totally unnecessary.

Changed my vote from "No my character has unlimited energy!!!!" to "Only in a hardcoe mode and optional.", I don't want it nor understand why you'd want to but I won't begrudge anyone that does want it.

I don't think players who don't feel like sleeping and eating every game day should be forced to.
