Charus Valga, Count of Chorrol

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:18 am

Charus Valga, late Count of Chorrol, has almost no information on him that I can find. I need said information for a Fan Fic, and I don't even know what race he was. Mostly what I need is a decent description of him: race, hair color, eye color, etc. if anyone can find it, and as much info on his death and his killer as possible. I know his wife and daughter, and I know his killer was a clansman from Skyrim. Mostly, the questions I'm asking are

1. A decent description of the Count

2. How he died, exactly

3. Who killed him, why, and what is a clansman

4. What happened immediately after his death

Thanks^^

if you havent found it then it probably doesnt exist. his name sounds colovian, so he probably looks imperial, maybe with some more nordic features. the fact that he died "in the battle against the nordic heathens" probably means its a territorial dispute.

i doubt there is any more info on him, in fact i hadnt head the name until you brought it up. make up what ever you need, and make it interesting :)

Thanks, Ventus already informed me, but thanks anyway. I intend to make up quite a bit. Just can't decide if he got killed at the castle like Hector (of Troy, that is) or if he went on a campaign into Skyrim. Oh, the possibilities...

yeah, skyrim=Nord, the uesp said that. and no, he was the husband of the countess we see in TesIV

I've read something somewhere about him being killed by Nords from Skyrim. He was the first count, wasn't he? If so, that seems likely. If not, judging by events in Canvas the Castle, the quest in Oblivion, it still seems to be the only logical explanation.

I don't know where I read that, though, so it might not be official.

I found a quote from guide to chorrol that say this "Countess Arriana is a devout and righteous follower of Akatosh, and sets a fine example for her people by her devotions in the Chapel of Stendarr. Her husband, Count Charus Valga, was a staunch Defender of the Faith and follower of Stendarr, and his death in battle against the heathen Nord clansmen of Skyrim was greatly lamented by his people. Alessia Caro has been a good husband to Count Marius of Leyawiin, and a dutiful daughter, and she is often seen visiting Chorrol and her saintly mother"

so from this I can say
1. in the quest "canvas the castle" you can recover a painting of the late count but not sure if you can see it. UESP says you can use console commands to see it I haven't tryed.
2. In a battle is all we know if I had to guess i would say it was a battle during the time tharn ruled when open warfare over lands was happening.
3. the nords is all we know and in a battle so I would think it was in skyrim I could be wrong
4. sinse his death was greatly lamented by his ppl something possibly was done in his honor.

Maybe the statue of a dying warrior being held by a woman is a memorial in memory of the count? It's right in front of the south gate.

That's the Saint of Sancre Tor, apparently. And we don't know that he was liked by his people. That book was written by Alessia Ottus, and she makes huge generalisations and doesn't use facts half the time (read what she says about the Temple District of the Imperial City, in particular).

Gallowglass has a point. You should also look into his daughter's character. That woman is a Cyro-centric racist, having nothing but contempt for the beastmen inhabiting the city she now calls "home." 'Ware the torture chamber... I forget if that is hers or her husband's.

It's hers. But her husband goes along with it, not mentioning it as far as I can tell, trying to keep her head above water in a county besieged by the threat of mass-insurgency.

Yes, I questioned whether that was from her father or her mother that made her racist. Thanks, I'll look into that.

A horrible lack of information on the subject is to be expected, not fun and it makes it a bit more difficult. However, it also leaves much room for creativity, which can either be fun or a drag depending on the plot I get going. Fan Fic in question is several ahead, but the only thing I really need to research much. Thanks you guys.

Edit: Concerning the post below this one: But I would be writing while he's still alive, so any mental problems wouldn't have set in yet, and she is mostly against the beast races. Thanks.

Given her father died in a crusade against "heathen nords", she probably got it from him.
