Not this thread AGAIN! This is getting old, given the number of existing threads.

If you want to communicate with someone around you, just do /whisper @[insert name here].

I like champagne with bubbles, but a game with chat bubbles? No thank you. It forces me to have to look to character which is talking. That kinda complicates things when you are busy hacking and slashing.

Aye. You can also click someones name in the chat window and it changes to whisper.

people who keep saying the screen will get cluttered obviously never played WoW... they had chat bubbles and NEVER in 10 years did i think it clutered the screen, even in congested areas..

its a poor argument. just admit it you dont want chat bubbles because you dont mind having a chat box thats spammed to the nines and unreadable....

Only if their option, to turn them off, as it would be distracting to pvp players.

Or some type filter, so that you only see your groups chat bubbles.

I don't think PvP players need worry about chat bubbles. Chatty people will be dead before typing out 3 syllables.

Chat bubbles should be optional though.

People seem to think that chat bubbles mean the end of the world as we know it because the screen will be so filled with you cant even see your hands in front.

GW2 has chat bubbles and it doesnt even cause an issue with the 200+ rollplayers in Divinitys Reach constantly chatting about the weather, their grandma or how a skritt stole their shiny.

In WvW, for us poor non-roleplayers it is CRITICAL with chat bubbles to effectivly communicate in pug groups, or when commanders use it to lead and /say what they are doing.

If you are in ag roup of 3 players talking, wtf are you meant to do? watch the Area chat and have others listening in on your convo? whisper one person at a time>?>?

FAAAIL. chat bubbles solve a LOT of chatting problems that may arise and the pros far out weigh the cons. "clutter"? wont happen with chat bubbles, detached, spam chat where you either whisper someone or talk to everyone in the game?

no thanks. Chat bubbles ftw

I did play wow... for 3 days.

Anyway, I don't care whether it's in the game or not as long as there's an option to turn it on and off.

i can live with an On/Off function, but there are way too many positives to not have them in the game at all.

It's funny how the ES series claims to be all about freedom and etc., yet you want to constrain my gameplay experience and therefore ruin my immersion (and others) because you don't want to filter certain chats out? Trust me, the chat is not that spammy. Keep it organized and you will do fine.

Invite them to a group, and then talk in group chat. If that fails (which it shouldn't), get TS/vent or just deal with /whisper.

Not too difficult.

They do add a lot, would love to see them. Its of course very easy to make them optional programming wise, so they wouldn't be forced on anyone.

This doesnt do one bit to solve positioning, even using voices. What are you going say on TS?

"Hey I'm down by the tree!"
"What tree, we're in a forest!"

"THAT tree, wtf dont you see me?!"
"No I dont"

"The tree on your left, behind it"

"There's three trees on my left."

"No that's your right, you're running the other way."
"FFS!"

Easily solved with... *chat bubble at location* "I died :("... And far more immersive than looking at a minimap dot, overhead icon or other fake indicator that serve no real purpose.

Random funny GW2 dialogue complete with chat bubbles: http://youtu.be/TwBnaYO6NmM

Does that not look entirely natural? An option to turn them off wouldnt hurt, but neither will chat bubbles.

Even if bubbles are intrroduced I would imagine they would be made optional which would cancel out several of the benefits mentioned as a spammer would hide their identity by switching off their bubble.

The 'Speaker' wouldn't have the option to turn off their own bubble the 'Listerner' would. So anyone who doesn't want bubbles would lose ALL bubbles, not just theirs, otherwise that would just be silly to have your bubble off, but not everyone else's when the person complains of 'clutter'.

Agreed, we need the option to turn on chat bubbles, trying to hold a conversation in a crowded venue is very difficult without them.

Like I said, if there's an option to turn them off, fine. I'll live with that. If it's an all or nothing thing (as it appears with some other people), I'm against them.

The group thing works as it shows where party members are on the map as well as an indicator on your screen/compass.

No thanks, those bubbles break my immersion, and it's counter intuitive to the minimalist ui the devs created. There'll be some add-ons in the future to add them I would imagine.
