Is it cheap too...

I have a character who wears Telvanni Robes regularly and Miraaks robes during combat with Dragons. I love both robes to death so I try to get the best of both worlds. But sometimes I feel like each character should have his own set of robes/armor that he/she wears all the time. Is it cheap/out of place too carry two sets of armor/robes?

It's only cheap if you feel it's cheap! :)

I'm with Berret. You have to make up your own mind. We should be playing these games to have fun. If it's fun for you to play a character that carries two robes or sets of armor you should do it. It doesn't matter what we think.

That said, whenever I need to make a decision like this I ask myself this simple question: "What is the appropriate action to take with this character?" Carrying two sets of armor or robes might be the right thing to do when I play Character A, but the wrong thing to do when I play Character B.

I let my characters decide what they want to carry. They're the ones who have to lift this stuff, not me.

The closest thing that could come to "cheap" would be if you were carrying like a dozen different sets of robes with various enchantments just to always have the ideal enchantment on. Totally abandoning the role-play element just to play a numbers game is never wise...but at the same time, there's no reason your character can't make sure to be prepared for various situations.

Short version: so long as you aren't going overboard and killing the entire point of fun, so long as you aren't being a total slave to numbers, then no, there's nothing wrong at all with having two sets of robes.
