How? 3 Skyscraqers advertising Skyrim...That's pretty epic.

I agree the actual event is epic...but the picture not so much.

Well, i suppose that answers the question of whether or not Skyrim's having a large presence at E3.

a huge banner that will probably be taken down at the end of E3.

It's being painted, good luck taking it down. :P

There's this huge unfinished banner of dovahkiin, covering a 12 or 13 story high hotel. The same picture as the cover on the "game reactor" magazine, although the banner is unfinished.

It's funny because you have no idea how video game development and marketing work.
The publisher does this, not the developer.
Granted they're pretty much the same people, but the money pools are completely different

It's funny because you have no idea how management accounting and costing systems work.

Development costs are usually part of the upstream cost pool ( although in this particular industry it would be considered part of the manufacturing process) whilst marketing is part of the downstream cost pool, both of which are still part of the same value chain for Skyrim. The cash flow forecasts will match revenue streams for Skyrim with it's various expenses, including of course marketing. Given budget limitations it is reasonable to assume any marginal allocation of funds for marketing will have an opportunity cost in other areas of the value chain, such as development.

I'm so glad they are spending their money where it counts. Not. I'd rather they invest in pre-release bug-testing than a huge banner that will probably be taken down at the end of E3.

EDIT: reason: I'm sure Bethesda wouldn't of did it if it put a huge dent in their cash.

It's advertisemant. They won't mind spending a ton of cash on it.
