A chess piece is missing

Post » Tue Jul 20, 2010 5:09 pm

I asked about a mod using the http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/2/2f/SatCom_Array_NN-03d-B_Chessboard.jpg in SatCom Array NN-03d as it would be cool to have. Doesn't seem to be one so I decided to check it out myself, although I've never done stuff like it before. The first thing I did was fixing the overlapping and floating pieces in vanilla. http://i45.tinypic.com/1z55ki1.jpg. The weird thing is that the Vodka Bottle that is supposed to be on the bottom left corner has disappeared. I've double checked and it is there in GECK - rotated it slightly just to edit it, but it still doesn't show up. What might cause that?

EDIT: Nevermind. I've been there before in the game and while I can't recall doing it I guess I took the bottle or something.

While I'm at it: is there any way to make one object of the chess board and the pieces with GECK? I'd like a chess board with those pieces permanent on it. Or would it be done with NifSkope or something?

Nifskope would work.

I am not sure if you can make a 'static collection' with havoc items, but the GECK does allow you to take several pieces and make one piece out of them.

Static Colections (SCOL) do require that all pieces be static. But you could make static versions of each item then combine them into a SCOL.

Arkngt, I made my own chessboard for my Chekov's place mod if you want to see it check it out here:

And trust me, if you picked up the vodka bottle in game, you would have a major mess on your hands, lol.

Thanks for the tips. :) Time to download Chekov's Place - love the chessboard. I'll check it out.

So this means that the resulting object is static as well? I'd want the chessboard w/ pieces to be pickup-able and place-able.

You cant if its static. I think you would have to do some crazy things in nifskope or blender and combine all the models and textures into one .nif and one .dds so that its just one solid object on its own. Then you could make it anything you wanted. ie static, havok'd, interactable.

If you wanted to make the whole thing as one item and be able to pick that item up, you could do it bu making a SCOL, then editing an existing misc item and changing the model to point to the SCOL nif that will be created when making the original SCOL. I have done this before and it works.

If you use nifskope, and you attach the pieces to the chessboard, it will still be havoc'ed and you will be able to pick them up. I did this exact same thing for my water-chip model.
