No Children...

Post » Thu Mar 25, 2010 3:31 am

Fallout 3 was great, except that children always annoyed me all the time, and I couldn't do anything about the little pricks. And it does not make sense that in a wasteland, little kids are invincible and carefree, and ANNOYING!!!

Little Lamplight made me want to rampage on them, and random encounters with them svcked. Most people have never had a good encounter with a child in Fallout 3...

I propose that children be removed from Fallout New Vegas, they are only a headache and only cause problems. If they are killable it will cause morality issues and whatnot. No just get rid of them from Fallout in general, they should not exist in the dire wastelands.

I hope this gets support, because children do not belong in Fallout. They never did, and never will...

Your the one blessed with protection from children...

Oblivion was fine without them, they almost ruined Fallout 3 In many people's opinions...

I know that they were a pain in the ass but to be honest they were never too big of a problem; Not big enough to remove from the game. It would be fun though to teach Little Lamplight a lesson.

Shoot child. Child is immune!

Some would argue that no children is better than unkillable children.

You must have never known the pains of going through Little Lamplight, oh god the horrors...

Every moment I felt like rampaging because of the pricks treating me like dirt and acting like tough stuff...

I'm pretty sure Obsidian already said they know people hated kids in FO3 b/c they were pricks and you couldn't do anything about it. I remember them saying they're keeping kids, but making them not annoying. Here's hoping I heard right.

Yup, Game Informer Online Interview.

Basically they said they knew people couldn't stand the children in Fallout 3 (including me), and their solution was to still have the children, but they will be less significant to anything important, and won't be annoying. However, due to many reasons they still are not killable.

But as long as they keep their promise and the children aren't horrifying characters that make your blood boil, there wouldn't be a need to kill them anyways...

Tough kids in a video game dont really matter to me. A minute or two after leaving Little Lamplight and I had totally forgot about them. It shouldnt affect your gameplay at all.

Okay don't take that seriously, if you managed to figure it out. I just put that in there for fun.

Perhaps have kids capable of being injured but not killed. I hated going about raiding towns (it's fun to be evil) but the kids would always just run fifteen feet then hunker down.

There's no real good way to solve this though. Everyone has become so PC and terribly terribly concerned with the impact video games have on their children, just not concerned enough to actually I don't know monitor their damn children. Violence against children = AO Rating and effective death of the game, exclusion of children is an immersion breaker, immortal nuke proof children is an immersion breaker, and that's it I don't know of any other ways to deal with the issue.

Thankfully the creators of Fallout 1 and 2 are more creative than I and will likely find some compromise.

They said that there will be children in the game but they'll be polite so you won't feel the need to kill them so much. I guess that that's all right. Never really felt a need to kill children in Fallout 3.

Personally I think the kids should stay. Yeah sometimes they got on your nerves, but they do add a nice touch of realism to the game.

I think it would be nice to add creepy children's voices or crying when your in dark areas tho! Never fails to creep you out. :)
