Choice: Skull of Corruption vs having Erandur as a follower.

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 3:00 pm

Skull of Corruption is a Daedric artifact, and I do love to collect those indeed! Aside from that though, I wouldn't ever use it except for RP or general messing around.

On the other hand, I could get Erandur as a follower. I have read he is the, or one of the, best followers in the game. I tried him out, but I don't see it. He seems to melee a lot and not cast much. Maybe I need to remove his weapons or something, but I am not seeing this supposed awesomeness.

I also tried having my cake and eating it too by taking the Staff, and raising Erandur as a thrall, but sadly, doesn't work.

Thought / insight / suggestions / tips?

Thanks

I took the skull. I was like "sorry dude, just met you five minutes ago."

Personally, I didn't think the Skull was all that powerful/useful, but Erandur is a pretty powerful follower. When I took the staff, it ended up sitting in a display rack in my Markarth home and I forgot about it. But when i did that quest with another character, I kept Erandur as a follower and think he's much more useful.

You can always get a better follower by helping Azura in the Black Star quest. Personally, Erandur just gets you hit by fireballs a lot so I'll just stick with Ghorbash, Cicero, and the Azura Priest

Got the skull my first playthrough was fun for a few mins going around and casting on people well they were sleeping but it doesn't do that much and as you said it seems more an rp item or an item just to collect them all. Haven't done that quest on my 2nd char yet but figured I'd take him as a follower the 2nd time through. Waited till I was higher level to go there 50 I think in my 2nd char so he may be more useful at higher levels, haven't really played to much with followers yet they aren't that bright and while I haven't had some of the problems people have had I've had a few, they don't seem to keep up and they don't attack when I want them too for example when I am on my horse and a wolf attacks they just stand there and let my horse and I get attacked when I want to sneak they don't move how you'd think they would and when they do attack they use a bow instead of the nice ebony axe I made them and enchanted. Plus I can't seem to switch out most of their default stuff.

The point of that ramble is it's a mediocore reward either way so go with your preferance, are you good? let him destroy it then and just have him as a follower, are you bad? kill him and take the skull, are you indifferent? choose what you think is cooler, more useful, think I'll let him destroy it from now on someone to carry stuff can be useful after all. =)

I already chose Black Star which means I can't take the Azura follower either. Haven't tried the others you named though. I like Kharjo (sp) a lot. The melee/tanky-ish Kajiit

My rp rules for my character forbid killing anyone that has previously helped me. Unless of course they turn on me first. Erandur was a good, loyal side kick through and through. I didn't touch a hair on him.

Plus I really didn't have to kill very many people in that tower you follow him into. He basically wtf pwns everything.

I forgoten I have Erandur as a follower! It's good to know I can use him as a pack mule when I am there. Now seriously I think the game is more enjoying if your decisions aren't based on seeking always the greater gain. You will have a lot of followers and magic objects, just live the game.
