[RELz] Choices and Consequences

Post » Sat Aug 14, 2010 8:01 pm

My latest update CandCandEQR 1.2, had two fixes for EQR quests. I don't know what else migck had fixed, or if he exclusively worked with C&C.
Since 2.0 migck doesn't include the EQR esp anymore.
So in theory you could download my 1.2, but unfortunately it seems migck has removed most old versions.

As far as bugginess is concerned, there were at least those two that I fixed in aforementioned version:
- (EQR) Fixed the alternate ending of "No Stone Unturned", so you actually have a choice of who you give the papers to.
- (EQR) Fixed the directions to Redguard Valley Cave you're given in "Sins of the Father": it would send you west instead of east.
And I experienced others which I strongly suspect of being from EQR. There are many, many quests affected by this mod, and I got discouraged at checking them or heaven forbid, playtesting them all.

Hmm...I couldn't find any EQR files, except for the ones orignally posted by Lingwei. One of them is a Beta dated Jan 12 2008 ; the other is dated Jan 7 and is the version I am using.
You said EQR edits "Sins of the Father", but looking in TES4EDIT I see that neither EQR or C&C edits it. Doing a text search I can't even find mention of Redguard Valley cave in neither mod? So I'm a bit confused...

I'm sorry to hear that migck can't continue supporting the mod. This mod is still one of my favorites and haven't been out of my load order for more than a few weeks at a time since it was released back in the day.
I sincerely wish someone can contribute just a little bit to fix the trainer scripts (I can confirm that Enhanced Economy blocks the training, but I suppose temporarily removing EE fixes this).

I have a problem. I turned in four apprentice diplomas to the head of the Fighter's Guild, then I wanted to advance to apprentice, but Azzan says I'm not yet ready for advancement. What's going on?... You only need four apprentice diplomas, at least that's what the book says.

Faction Reputation - Faction reputation represents your standing in the guild and is gained by completing minor jobs for the guild. It recognizes how much dedication you have proven to the guild. You gain reputation by undertaking repeatable minor jobs for different members of the Arcane University. The jobs include collecting alchemical ingredients for the Lustratorium, collecting soul gems for the Chironasium, killing necromancers and conjurers and taking their robes to the practice rooms, finding and donating rare skill books to the Mystic Archives, and closing Oblivion gates. Furthermore the targets in the practice area have been altered so that casting any spell (even a player made one) at them will also increase reputation. Finally your gain a larger amount of reputation for completing the original Mages Guild quests. You can see your current Faction Reputation, and the number of certificates turned in by using the Faction Reputation token in the Cobl Options box.

You need to increase your overall faction reputation before they'll let you advance. Speak to various people in the guild, and you'll get the details.

I've http://www.mediafire.com/file/tznmjzd2zzn/Last known EQR.7z the EQR esp from C&CandEQR 1.2. It's the last update to EQR I know of, with the two updates I mentioned above. It's completely unsupported by either me or migck, so use it if you want, but don't come crying if it breaks your quests or eats your computer.
I have no idea whether this .esp is dependent on some data files though, since if there are some, they were mixed with the Choices and Consequences ones.

Thanks. I downloaded it and it modfies lots more (at least 200 more) quests than the original EQR which only edits 28 quests. When the time comes to install EQR and C&C properly I'll have a closer look. In my previous game both the original mods worked mostly well, with no game stopping bugs, and I'm a bit wary of the reported problems with the FG trainers, so I'm not quite ready to make the switch yet.

Mostly I've found that the issues are not with EQR and Vanilla install - it is that there are conflicts with other mods.

As for the fighters guild examiners - make sure to turn off mods like Realistic Fatigue and or Kuertee NPCs yield (I guess Vows and Covenants could be an issue too). Nothing worse than flooring an NPC then they lose script - or having them yield then never re-initiate the examination.

I'm pretty much running vanilla with C and C.

Can anyone shed some light on the problem with not being able to advance, even though I turned in all the right diplomas? Must be a bug.

Do you get reputation for completing the quests? I can't remember. :(

Also, I can't seem to get the Light Armor trainer in Cheydinhal to train me. My skill is 33, but he has no topic for training (no topics at all, actually).

Isn't Ah-Malz of the Skingrad Fighter's Guild supposed to have a faction reputation topic for me? He doesn't.

You haven't started the oblivion invasion yet. It won't start until after you complete the lost heir quest I beleive.

Heh. The quest update shouldn't include Ah-Malz in there then. I think the guild advancement folks should point out who you can talk to for faction reputation anyway.

And another problem I've encountered: Right-Wind in Bruma said to bring him any bandit or marauder fingers. Well, I fought some bandits, and there were no fingers in their inventory.

Didn't they change that back? Earlier versions of C&C just automatically kept track - there were no fingers.

So, now there's no fingers? That's a bit odd.

Sorry, I was wrong. The readme states that you can turn in fingers. It also says that you don't gain reputation for completing the guild quests (or, it doesn't say that you do, which is essentially the same thing), so that answers my question.

I got to try out the Marksman trainer last night - very well done. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it wasn't all that hard to hit the target (9 times, no less!).

Oh, I see that only a small percentage of bandits I kill has fingers.

You'll note that Ayleid People for example points out:
- Sins of the Father (Chorrol side quest, here Lingwei altered the end of quest to get possibility of steeling Chorrol Sword from Countess, but this does not work at all !).

I've looked more closely at the original C&C version of this quest. The problem is that it doesn't advance from Stage 100 to Stage 110. If you write from the console you can finish the quest if you have the Chorrol Sword in possession (after stealing it back from the Countess) and talk to Fathis Ules.
This stage advancement is controled by MS16BScript:
scriptname MS_16BScriptshort QuestBeginsshort MoveFathisshort Endingbegin Gamemode;Trigger Stage 20 when near the caveif ( GetStage MS16B == 10 )	if ( Player.GetDistance MS16BRedguardValleyMarker <= 500 )		setstage MS16B 20	endifendifif ( GetStage MS16B == 100 )	if ( Player.GetDistance WeatherleahExteriorMarker <= 10000 )		if GetPCMiscStat 28 >= 500 && player.getitemcount MS16BRewardEscutcheonLeveled == 1			setstage MS16B 110		else			stopquest MS16B		endif	endifendifend

This script does not seem to work properly. I thought it was due the reference to MS16BRewardEscutcheonLeveled which is a leveled item, and thus (if I understand correctly) not the same ID after the item has been "generated" from the leveled lists. But neither removing that or the other condition (you must have stolen at least 500 items) helped. I editet the script in the CS to this:
scriptname MS_16BScriptshort QuestBeginsshort MoveFathisshort Endingbegin Gamemode;Trigger Stage 20 when near the caveif ( GetStage MS16B == 10 )	if ( Player.GetDistance MS16BRedguardValleyMarker <= 500 )		setstage MS16B 20	endifendifif ( GetStage MS16B == 100 )	if ( Player.GetDistance WeatherleahExteriorMarker <= 10000 )			setstage MS16B 110		else			stopquest MS16B	endifendifend

Any idea why this doesn't work?

Anyway, both conditions seem counterintuitive to me. Why would a Thief be dragging around a Heavy Shield? He's either sell it or stash it away/put it on display with his other artefacts.

So to conclude: the quest will work, and end, as long as it can get from Stage 100 to Stage 110.

One question I wasn't able to glean info about from reading the readme: Can I start this mod if I have already started the vanilla quests for joining mages and fighter's guilds?

Err.. anyone know about this?

My existing PC char has already joined the figher's and mages guilds - doing the dirty work for Burz in the former, and am still getting recommendation quests for university acceptance in the latter.
Can/ should I start this mod if I have already started the vanilla quests for joining mages and fighter's guilds? I hope it doesn't break anything. If not, I'll just use it on a new character.

AFAIK, the newest version will work even if you're already a member, and will not break anything, but it will probably not track correctly your accreditation points.

I'm having a little trouble trying to get this mod to work.

Actually, its worked for me before, but ever since i started a new character (with a new mod list for that matter), and updated to the latest, im pretty sure most of the mod is malfunctioning.

1. Anytime that i get items removed from me, they never get returned and i'm forced to reload.
2. I'm not sure that when i hand in bandit fingers, or any other proof of killing, its adding any kind of reputation whatsoever. Not entirely sure about that (unless there's a way to view my reputation?).
3. I've hit journeyman rank in the FG, and so far i still dont have a single accreditation.

I thought this was a mod conflict at first, but if it is, i think it must be a script conflict that occurs in-game, because i've checked it thoroughly against my load order + bashed patch in tes4edit, and there's very little to say about it, and where there is, its defiantly not something that should be breaking the mod this much.
Anyone heard of this happening before?

I don't think updating from the original version to the current one is safe, unless clean saving, since the new one changes quite a lot.

No that cant be it, because i started my character with the latest version. Also got the latest patch before i started.

Edit: Ok, nevermind about the first one..... I still not sure about problems 2&3 and whats causing them, but i defiantly have some kind of in game script problem with the whole returning my items part. Just got a HOD dream, and my items weren't returned either.
