The C725 Avenger loaded with AP ammo.

Dear god, I've never seen it rip into a deathclaw saw fast. As long as I carry around about 20 Weapon Repair Kits, I'm good.

Ballistic Fist for me. Displacer Glove is alright but the other, being black, matches my outfits :P

The Ballisic Fist; it hasn't failed me yet. Doing 110 damage a hit is just absurdly awesome, coming from FO3 I never thought I'd see damage that high outside of the Fat Man.

Trail Carbine with the scope mod

I like to snipe as much as I can so I naturally prefer scoped rifles or rifles that can attach a scope. Repeater's are decent at most ranges and if I run out of action points they aren't too shabby as a free aim weapon. And the .44 swc ammo is craft-only and I like making my own ammo, plus it has ability to negate some DT.

-Hmn.. A suppressed sniper rifle? I prefer distance between myself and my targets because I deliberately gimp myself. I don't give my marks any chances so if I had to stick with one weapon that would prolly be it.

If ammo isn't an issue, then I take the tri-beam laser rifle. Once you get a feel for the firerate sweet spot, it decimates almost any enemy. If you load up Overcharge or Max Charge ammo, it's even better. I would be content to play the entire game with only a Gauss Rifle and the tri-beam.

If you had to pick a single weapon to play the entire game through with what would you select?

The second play through I gave myself the Tesla Baton. It's kind of tough on your companions if they get in the way though.

For my first play through i used to .357 Revolver all the way through and loved it. Adding the mods only makes it better :D The damage it packs, and the fact that it and it's ammo can be found anywhere make it easy to repair and maintain. This playthrough, I'm leaning towards a SMG though, as i liek the rapid fire.

In FO3 I rarely used unarmed, but love using it in NV. I haven't made a character that doesn't have unarmed as a tag skill yet. Plus, I suppose it didn't help that my FO3 was heavily modded and everything was just harder to kill. Especially those with guns.

or Maria. I like the look of the gun, and it deals semi-ok damage for my playstyle.

The incenerator or how ever you spell it. Hit them with 3 good shots and let 'em burn.

Yer it's my favourite too, the biggest problem with it is during close combat. I have 'that gun', what does it do? Cost me over 1000 caps and does nothing more than a handgun - anyone tell me how to get it to earn it's keep pls.

I'd have to say my new favorite is the BAR.....it kills things dead, even if it is pricey to feed and wears pretty quickly. I still have a place in my heart for Lucky, the Hunting shotgun and suppressed sniper rifle though.

Maria, Maria, Mariiia, I just met a 9 mm named Maria....

(Actually, I've been mostly using a modded Cowboy Repeater to snipe everything that ED-E and Boone don't get. Doesn't matter how long reloading takes, they cover for me and I get the XP.)

I have done 5 complete playthroughs so far, each concentrating on a different weapons skill set. Here would be the answers for each playthrough, since I haven't tried these weapons against each other, I can only answer for each group:

Advanced Firearms
Winner of Best Actor Award in a Major Mojave Wasteland Appearance: Sniper Rifle with silencer mod.
Winner of 1st Runner up: Ratslayer.

Explosive Weapons
Winner of Best Actor: Fully modded Grenade Machinegun.
Winner of 1st runner up: Mercy.

Melee Weapons
Winner of Best Actor: Oh Baby!
Winner of 1st runner up: Knock Knock

Energy Weapons
Winner of Best Actor: YCS/186
Winner of 1st runner up: Fully modded Laser Rifle.

Cowboy Firearms
Winner of Best Actor: Brush Gun
Winner of 1st runner up: Trail Carbine with scope mod.

I'll be starting an Unarmed psychopath playthrough soon, I'll let you know how it turns out.

EW runner up being fully mod laser rifle? what about Laser RCW only consume 1/3 of energy but able to pump out 2/3 of output? Along with high rate of fire and only have half the weight?

I did energy weapons prior to the patch, so I had to really min/max for crits to make it work. It worked best as an energy weapons sniper, so the scoped weapons were what I ended up with. Energy weapons pre-patch, going in guns blazing? Nope. Not for me, thanks.
