Are there any "chores" you have to get to doing for a save file in Skyrim?

On my main character I really have to get to furnishing the basemant. I had my Steward furnish the whole house except the basemant because there isn't a dialogue option to furnish the basemant.

Also, the Dawnguard questline on my new character. Sure its fun but I don't feel like playing Vampire Hunter yet, the only reason I have to finish the questline is so the damned vampire attacks stop happening.

I did the Dawnguard side with an Alt, and it was so...long. So tedious. So underwhelming.
