For me it's more his comment on day one DLC that speaks to me.
This is why I like Obsidian. They know what their job is. They know why they're paid.
A lot of people today just care about getting paid, not the why or how. What's the purpose of money? It's an incentive to work, and through our work, each of us contribute to society and humanity in one way or another. Unfortunately, we've hit a point where people have forgotten to care about actually contributing, but care more about getting paid. People aren't interested in working because they realize that their desk, computer, table and wine are all the result of another person's hard work and they want to "return the favor" by making something for other people aswell, no, people are just interested in getting paid and having shiny things.
But Avellone's answer to day one DLC? He specifically states what a game developer's job is, then proceeds to ask if Day 1 DLC is truly neccesary or relevant to their job as game developers, and if "the customer is always right" is a legit question for the scenario of day 1 DLC, since it obviously isn't popular. Why the HELL should a company insist on a design method that isn't popular in the entertainment industry?
Lines like that are what make me respect Obsidian. Some things are made with love and care, with it's creators taking careful care to make sure they're happy with the product, other things are manufactured, simply made in the interest of making money, with the creators having no personal interest in the product beyond it's ability to generate income. Obsidian clearly makes their games with love and care, which is certainly refreshing in a day and age when companies like EA dominate the market.
