Christmas music on the PIP-BOY radio

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 1:29 am

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could listen to christmas music on the pip-boy during December? It could be a part of an update or something.

Your thoughts

Update: I realize now that the IRL radio already have way too much christmas music, but we can all agree that some more music in general would be great

I really thought the radio stations would be more robust this time around. I enjoy the songs and commentary. I hoped we'd get a talk or news station ala GTA. Definitely behind the idea of more radio content via update.

A lot of Christmas music is copyrighted. Even if the music itself is public domain, the specific recordings would still have to be licensed.

I agree. While I very much enjoy the music on Diamond City radio, I was disappointed that it's less than a 2 hour loop. Also adding to the fact that almost 10 of those songs were holdovers from Fallout 3.

No. I loathe, resent and despise Christmas music. If I could have it all banished from the face of Earth permanently, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. Eight years working in a toy store will do that to a man.

Well I certainly wouldn't have a problem with other people enjoying Christmas music in Fallout, I just wouldn't enjoy it myself. I do agree though, I'm a bit disappointed in the new music. The original songs they wrote don't do much for me.

Just teasing man as peronally I can't stand the majority of Xmas songs but i get your point.

Yes more music would be better - and a talk station would be interesting too.

The thing about Travis is that he's never realy interesting. He was okay when he was shy, but after his quest he got motionless. I kinda miss 3-dogs...

My greatest fear is we get something like "Granma got run over by a reindeer." I guess some modder could do a "Ma Murphey got run over by a radstag" to keep it Fallout 4ish. B)

S**t, didn't even think about that. Most of the songs on the radio stations are pre-war however

I like Diamond radio... But there is NOT enough songs. the loop is way too short making the radio feel way too repetitive, the loop should be 4 hours long. There should be interviews, mini talk shows and at least 5 additional songs. Maybe in an update? Also if there is radio there should be TV. Cooking shows, weapon moding shows and a settlement improvement shows would be great to make the lore even better than it is!

I would have loved it if they managed to secure rights to some old radio shows like Jack Benny or Johnny Dollar. They have a radio drama, but it's only available in a small part of the map and if you progress too far in a certain quest chain you lose it. :(

Not the old christmas music alot of it is free use actually like most of the songs from way way back.

Really be awesome if Bethesda doesnt put in a christmas station to at least release some tool for modders to make a christmas station until the geck is released. Cmon bethesda think of us the gamers who love you because you were all gamers too once upon a time or maybe still are?

Would be cool if you could link something like Spotify to it

There is the Steam Music thing, so it may have worked if that could be linked to Spotify

That's already true with much of the music they use in the game now. I don't see any problem with Christmas music and copyright.

The problem is that they'd have to go through the process of acquiring the rights all over again, and then test, have certified, and publish the patch or DLC in barely more than a month. Given how long testing and cert take, it's impracticable.

I already hate Christmas songs on the radio IRL, (the same 5 bloody songs every 2 hours 24/7) so no thanks to them being in game.

There is already WAY too much christmas music IRL.. It kind of makes me sick after a couple of weeks, if that.

I can see why it could appeal to some though.

But I would MUCH prefer, that they focused the time and money into putting more general music in DC radio

and the classical radio. The music loops are not that long IMO.

I just flip on my iphone, nothing like a little Dropkick Murphys while engaged in urban conflict in Boston. Could do the same with the Christmas music is I celebrated christmas and cared
