REMEMBER CIGARETTES AND CIGARS AREN'T MODERN. ANCIENT AZTECS AND MAYANS SMOKED CIGARETTES AND CIGARS

I think that since there is tobacco, people would figure out you can smoke it eventually. IMO Skyrim should have cigarettes (whether pre-rolled or in a pouch with rolling papers). My Adventurer would look pretty badass with a cigarette

I voted for pipes. Besides being disgusting and terrible for you, cigars and cigarettes wouldn't match the world of Tamriel.

Pipes might fit ok, and as for a gameplay mechanic, I'd prefer them to be aesthetic but possibly run out over time like torches.

It wouldn't? They've got tobacco. They've got paper. I'm not really seeing any issues. :/

So I'd call it fairly unlikely he meant "pipes" the three times he typed cigarettes/cigars.

And I vote no, they shouldn't be in, but can't fit it into the poll. My vote: Just a plain, unadorned "no." Not because of bogus health reasons (OMG it's teh Joe Camel cartoonz, encouraging teh childrenz to smoke!!) and not "but there should be pipes." Just "no."

I think that would fall under "other" or even "smoking is bad" but in the sense that "smoking is bad for skyrim and it shouldn't be in the game"

Well, perhaps makeshift cigars, but cigarettes? If where talking about real cigarettes with filters and all the added contents... I don't see the Dragonborn leaning against a tree puffing up a cloud. It would be so out of place. Like guns. A pipe just fits the fantasy setting better. Did you ever see Gandalf smoking a cigarette? I mean, hey, if you think it matches the lore and the setting then more power to you. I just don't see it fitting at all.

I love cigars. I even enjoy a good pipe once in a while. I wouldn't mind seeing either/both of these things included in TES. Cigarettes, while completely plausible within the realm of TES lore, somehow seem a little out of place. Anyhow, even though I think it would be a 'neat' feature, it's not very high on my list of 'wants' for the game.

Cigarettes don't have to have filters, in fact they didn't start out with filters at all.. Haven't you ever seen a hand rolled cigarette?

Cigars have just as long a history as pipe smoking. People have rolled and smoked tobacco for as long as they've grow it.
I see no problem whatsoever with its inclusion, and I'm quite partial to the idea of having smoking tobacco in the game. Pipes and cigars.
However, I doubt we'll see either. Our moral watchdogs are particularly concerned about portrayals of tobacco usage these days, you know.

well Solid Snake was addicted to cigs and you could equip them in all the games (except MGS3 when you're big boss you have cigars instead), so i don't really see the difference between that and this.

I'd be one thing if they were brand name cigarettes, but they wouldn't be cause thatd be ridiculous.

I thought it was awesome when in Red Dead Redemption John would chief a cig after every mission, always made me crave one though even though I don't smoke often :flamethrower:

I think Skooma is sufficient, maybe some kind of pipe-Skooma smoking that is illegal could add more to the feel of Skooma rather than them just being bottles of harm. Some legal pipe smoking would also be nice, but I don't think Nords smoke much, after all all they need is mead. :foodndrink:

They are just too modern to fit.
I think they appeared just 100 or 200 years ago ?
At the other hand smoke pipes where used by the native Americans much longer,and it wouldn't feel so out of place seeing one or two.
Perhaps some Argonian pipes with tribal style ?

What? tobacco is in the game already. Skooma is a hardcoe illegal drug that makes you really stupid. tobacco is completely different.

EDIT: most of you people think these are out of place cause TES is based on medieval Europe, where they didn't have tobacco. immediately when columbus brought back tobacco from America cigars, cigarettes, and pipe smoking started in Europe

you people only think smoking pipes fit more in TES because Lord of the Rings.

Yes, politicians and reporters could potentially blow this out of proportion. There are still a lot of people who believes that computer games are for kids only, and they might very well think of this as a pro-smoking campaign directed specifically towards children. It won't matter if the game is directed to an older audience. This kind of stuff is sensitive.
