Circlets are a win

Post » Tue Dec 13, 2011 11:58 pm

I don't like helmets, I never have. Hoods aren't much better, since they usually get rid of the character's hair or hide their face. I'm really glad Bethesda put circlets in the game, it was a sorely absent thing in Oblivion that there was no headgear that was attractive and unobtrusive.

From what I can tell, though, either circlets are somewhat limited in the enchantments you can place on them, or I'm somewhat limited in the enchanting skill. If the former, maybe one thing Bethesda could look into would be expanding the way that Circlets can be enchanted.

Secondly, expanding the selection of circlets would be pretty nice. Right now they all look the same, just different colors. A few different varieties would be something fun to mess around with. In the end, though, I'm just glad they finally exist. Worst case scenario, a mod or two comes out soon adding in a selection.

I thought Lydia looked pretty good with one on...

I like the +alchemy one, and keep it in the satchel along with a +alchemy ring, ready for use.

Yeah they all pretty much look like they came off the same assembly line.

Need an option to hide helmets like in dragon age.

Most helmets in skyrim are hideous

I use heavy armor and I like some of the helmets. Plate, Ebony (fav), deadric and dragon. Alot of the rest I'm not to fond of but circlets do look very nice. As for enchantments, certain ones are limited to certain parts of the armor, only so many are allowed on each part of the body. So that is probably why you have such a limited selection.

Yeah, I've made Lydia wear a circlet most of the time she's been with me. She's well over the armor cap, and a helmet just seems excessive.

Hoods aren't much better

Oh no you didn't!

Scaled Armour (not the Dragon version) + Mage hood = Best combination in the game.

I'm pretty much forced to use circlets since I'm an Argonian / Khajiit and I don't like the idea of my horns and ears being retractable.

I loved circlets (esp with the mod that makes them even prettier-Aeterna I think it was called) until I got the bear helm, now I just get a kick out of having a bear for a hat.

Yeah I agree, circlets are really cool, I'm currently hunting down a gold and sapphire one to go with my Dwarvan Armour, then once my set is complete I'm going to heavily enchant it.

I don't like the circlets really. Never got a combo outfit I like it with. Also I would like a hide option as well, but for now my paladin uses a cowl enchanted with his glass armor to look like a holy warrior.

I played around alot too looking for a nice combo, I think my favorite is Imperial Heavy Armor with a circlet with red gem stones. The stones accent the red collar of the armor nicely.

I tried my glass armor with a circlet, it was nice but by far it doesn't look as paladin like as I want, the cowl did the trick. I need to upload a pic on the show your char thread tonight.

I've found that steel plate with a silver and sapphire circlet goes down pretty well IMO.

They're good if you're playing a female.

I agree, circlets are awesome :)
but again, yes they do need some variety!

not a circlet, but a sort of "crown" as possible idea for alternatives, in one of my renders :)

I wish there was silver with red gem stones circlet , but I have only seen with blue, that would be ideal. Your combo is very nice though. Steel armors are so much more versatile to work with as far as mixing and matching appearance items.

I love circlets too. Bethesda were inspired once again by the modding community. By the way, there aren't any enchanting limitations that I know of.

It'd be nice if they could count towards those matching set armor skill perks, but I doubt you could make them count as both light and heavy armor. I think the best solution would be to grant you the perk as long as you weren't wearing a piece of armor from the other skill tree - so going helmetless, or wearing a hood or circlet, you'd still get the perk, but wearing a light helmet with heavy armor you wouldn't.

Just keep an eye on the mods at nexus and other places, they have already made cloth hoods into light and heavy armor, so I am sure it wont be long for circlets as well.

I love them too and make my own. I tend to make mostly silver with either garnet or saphire. Too bad there isn't a way to reach into others people's games and sell them the stuff you make.

Just you wait 'till Kafeid gets her hands on appropriate modding tools. We'll get plenty of circlet awesomeness by then, rest assured.
