I've been a bit stupid and accidentally installed Fallout 3 in Program Files on vista....
I've been wondering how I can stop the annoying problems associated with that.

I know I can turn of UAC, but is this recommended? Is that safe?

Otherwise, I could do a reinstall but I've already modded my game a lot and wouldn't like to do it again.

Could I perhaps just move the folder outside Program files? Is that possible to just click&drag it away or would it cause all sorts of problems?

If turning UAC off isn't recommended and the above isn't possible, is there something else I can do to remove UAC from the Fallout 3 folder?

Can you not just uninstall/reinstall?

if you have a good anti spyware/anti virus there should be no problems with turning off uac. When i still had Vista, I did that because It was WAYYY too intrusive for me, Windows 7 isn't a whole lot better in that regard, except that you have more than the option of turning on of off.

Been running AVG and Spybot with UAC turned off for about a year without any major problems.

Take ownership of the install directory and UAC will not prompt for any writes to it. UAC only prompts when the owner is "TrustedInstaller".
