Cities in Skyrim?

Post » Thu Jul 22, 2010 4:52 am

So according to the GI story there will be five massive cities in TES V: Skyrim...

But when I took a look at http://images.uesp.net//3/33/Skyrim_map_Oblivion.jpg, I noticed there are eight major cities.

So I was wondering, which cities do you guys think will make the cut? Which won't?

I'm not big on Skyrim's lore, so I don't really know the important cities...

P.S. I haven't received my GI copy yet, so forgive me if there are any cities that have already been confirmed...

Just a guess that they try and use cities on all sides of the map, I cut out the ones at the very edges. Leaves room for major city mods at least :)

Hopefully they are all included through the use of DLC.

Maybe there will be 5 massive cities, but the other ones will be still in the game just more townish than cities.

i really have no idea, but id say the ones that are in the most interesting/plot based location

so judging by the map...

- Solitude
- Markarth Tide
- Falkreath
- Riften
- and Whiterun because its next to the biggest mountain marking, which is most likely the throat of Nirn or w/e its called

these five would have quite a lot of terrain diversity, and i think that solitude has already been confirmed.
also, i have heard that the western area of skyrim is quite prominent in the game

I'm guessing that all of those settlements will be present if the entire province is included in the game, but that only five will be full fledged cities.

Nothing on the map says all of those marked locations are necessarily well populated, only that they are important settlements.

Five massive cities and 3 smaller ones? XD

We have no definite proof that there will ONLY be 5, just that there are five big ones.

All of them will be available IMO, but I think 3 will be small cities or settlements while the other 5 will be major cities.

Riverwood is mentioned a few times in the article. Something about a quest given by a shopkeeper to retrieve a golden artifact from a cave/ruin. I'm not sure if riverwood is a city or one of many smaller towns/lodges?

Right now, I say all of them will be in. Not all of them are "massive" by any means. Those are the most notable, sure, but some are bigger than others. I'm thinking 5 major cities, and the rest will be there as settlements. On the other hand, a lot can happen in 200 years, and they DID say there would be city ruins to explore. If they do wind up just having the rest of the cities be destroyed, well I feel like that would be just their way of making their laziness explainable canon. I don't know, I'd rather have more cities.

If you think they all will be cut that doesn't explain how the gi article confirms five massive cities?

5 massive cities doesn't mean they will be those cities

He clearly did not mean "I think the concept of cities will be cut from the game."...

The three other cities may be smaller (or maybe destroyed like Kvatch ). Don't expect them to come in DLCs.

Yes, but I would find it very hard to believe all of the cities listed on the map would be cut and every single city would be a "new" city.

I don't think dropping a whole new city on the existing landscape would work well for a DLC.

why would they go an make 5 new cities, when there are already plenty of lore friendly cities there?
a cities lifespan lasts longer than 3 generations.

It should be noted that on the PGE1's map, there are only six cities in Skyrim.

Me thinks this possibility seems more possible than the first possibilitys possibility.

I think all the cities are still there. It just said 5 major cities. The others could just be minor but still sizable cities.
