What would you like to see in Skyrims Cities, towns and villiages?

I would personally like to see alot more NPC in Cities compared to that of Oblivion (and plz bethaseda dont place generic martins everywhere grrrr), also have them not look so bland.

I would like to see more cities the size of Imperial City in OB. I also want to see an arena in each major city. More battles in the arena would be nice.

I don't think they could implement an arena in every city, and plus it would break to lore on skyrim, maybe a boxing ring to challange people in hand-to-hand in some villiages to keep in exciting

How would it break lore?

Anyway, I'm a little dissapointed with the size of the cities (Whiterun seems to be the size of an OB city at best (not including the Imperial City)), I'd prefer them to make them at least about 10 buildings larger, even if those buildings added no quest content, just to make it feel more like a real city. Seems to town-like.

I don't think arena are that common thoughtout the Elderscrolls empire so that why i think it may break with lore. That what i gather from playing both morrowind and oblivion both having 1 arena in the entire game, still i wouldn't mind seeing arenas in every city.

As for the cities looking bland, I can say with some confidence that they won't be.

Solitude (or whatever that coastal city on the hill is) looks great.
Markarth looks AMAZING and very definitely not bland.

Whiterun....well it looks a bit like Bruma actually, judging by what we've seen so far.
It could be argued that it looks a bit bland but if it's the only city that looks Oblivion-esque then it won't seem bland because it will be unique in that sense.

Though I would like to see more cities that are Imperial City sized, that being so far from the imperial province, I doubt there would be particularly big cities.
I could be wrong on that though.

Hopefully Todd will show off an actual city in his demo at Quakecon and hopefully we'll get to see something as a result of that.

You haven't even seen all of Whiterun. There are only 2 screenshots, once far away from the city with walls obscuring the buildings inside except for a large building, and one showing the large building with buildings around it. Can't make assumptions until we've seen the city as a whole, especially since the cities are said to be bigger than Oblivion (to what extent is questionable, but I'm sure we will notice). I just hope cities are more full of life. Quality over quantity, if you know what I mean. ;)

That is good to hear that the towns aren't going to be bland, i was hoping the NPC in the cities wouldn't be such that in oblivion you could first two martins look like. Which i found very lore breaking and funny, since he is suppose to be the heir to the throne.

Yes, definitely more villagers, and more basic quests obtained through sheer conversation (that you have to pay attention to!). Also, id like to see more shops.. for instance, instead of having one shop with leath, fur and chain mail, make a leather and fur shop AND a chainmail shop. Its much more realistic that way. Id also like to see people more at work with their trade, maybe a tailor sewing or a blacksmith making a sword, and I understand we'll see people do jobs anyway. But in a nutshell, more people, more conversation, more shops, and more animation!

One Imperial city sized city is enough for me, in a game with a map this size. I don't want too many oversized sprawls that can be seen from everywhere. Several Cheydinahal sized cities, a few Chorrol sized cities, and then a number of widely scattered villages and towns, with the larger ones being about twice the size of Bleaker's Way, to about half the size of Bruma if you took away the castle, and with the smaller ones being about the same size as Bleaker's way, or a couple houses larger than Alswell.

Look at all the shots of Whiterun in the demo. Look at the available pictures of Whiterun. Look at the shape of Whiterun on the map from the Behind-the-scenes video. Compare the size of Whiterun on the map to an OB city given the total map size is roughly equal, or by making sure the cells are the same size when you compare them. We've seen all of Whiterun.

I would like to see more "magic shops" but with the Nords distaste for "Witches" and the schism within the Mages Guild I expect to see only a few really good "magic shops". We don't really have any details on The College of Whispers or the Synod.

Ok...personally I love cities. Big, crowded, filled with quests and things to do. Nuff said.

Game representations are not a concrete source for lore. I'm sure there's supposed to be more than 850 citizens in the Imperial province, too. Also, just because something isn't in certain provinces doesn't mean it isn't in others. You can't just look at Oblivion and Morrowind and conclude there are no cities built into a giant tree in the whole of Tamriel because neither featured that.

I read the books in morrowind, oblivion , their quite interesting and contain alot of the lore and that why i dont think that cities not all cities have arena, plus the reason they dont have 850+ npc is a computer rendering limitation not something to do with lore.

Not mentioning something doesn't mean it doesn't exist either.
