Civil War! For the empire? Or For the resistance?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 4:13 am

With a Nord character, I'll fight for the Resistance.

With most others, I'll fight for the Empire unless these 200 years really change the character of the Empire.

Vivat imperium!

First playthrough I'll likely side with the empire, after that all bets are off.

I would hope that there is an option for neutral characters to choose from, and not be sheep herded through another good vs. evil story with no room for middle ground.

There's really no good or evil side. The Empire has propaganda and some evil agendas, well at least the Septim Empire did. Still, it's an Imperial ran Empire so it's bound to have many corrupt aspects. I'm tired of that so I'll definitely rather have a sovereign Skyrim ruled by passive clans or a peaceful ruling clan that takes notice to culture and tradition over an Empire that pushes their way on everyone.

The ReSIStance!!!!

I mainly just hate the empire so anti-empire all the way. Anything I can do to [censored] with the Septims I will do. hate those guys. Always getting into everyone's business.

Both sides better be grey.

The OP asks an interesting question. I would like to know more about the underlying issues besides just separatism.

Who killed the king, and more importantly, what was the motivation?

What are the opinions of my would be friends, associates, and potential lovers?. Do certain guilds support either side, and if so which ones?

Does my character require access to either capitol?

Is it possible to remain neutral, and still make adequate progress in the game, being despised by both factions?

Or, is it more logical to choose a side, gaining allies from the side one chooses, as well as creating enemies from the opposing element?

Choosing sides probably opens more access than not choosing, but also, one will most likely lose support from the opposition.

Is the inherent nature of my active character that of a loyalist or a rebel? Does my character admire loyalty, or romanticize rebeliousness?

Thankfully, the advent of the Skyrim Civil War almost demands at least a second play-through, if not more. Resultantly, one, or more of my characters will support the loyalists, and one, or more will support the rebel cause. I'm not sure about remaining neutral, but it may be worth a try, as well.

I'll stand with the Empire. While they do bad things sometimes, the unity they bring ultimately benefits the providences by standardizing currency and encouraging trade amongst the providences.

I dunno know. I don't really like TItus Mede, but I also don't really think rebelling against an already weakened empire is the polite thing to do. To be honest, I'll probably go independant, until I learn more that makes me decide

I am sure we could do as we like.
My first character I have in mind won't care about either side.

Has the Empire helped to prevent war between the different countries of Tamriel?

Yes, getting a feeling for the "lay of the land" seems to be a reasonable approach, prior to making an initial decision. Follow on play-throughs, however, will probably take opposing views.

But their legacy lives on through the Empire so that too must end. I must not just kill my enemy, I must destroy what they believe in and what they created.

The crumbling of the Empire will be my last seal of revenge.

We'll have to see. Rebelling for the sake of rebelling is stupid and we don't know anything about the Empire during the time of Skyrim.

I'll probably take the rebels. It reminds me of Star Wars and if I go with the resistance I'll get Yoda on my side and who doesn't like Yoda?

But in all seriousness I don't like the idea of the Empire taking control of Skyrim so I would want to help the Nords take it back.
