Civil War! For the empire? Or For the resistance?

FOR THE EMPIRE!

I hope anyway. It is possible that the empire has changed for the worse since the Septims, we'll see. If so I may have second thoughts. I have always liked the idea of fighting to the last for a dying empire. Probably why my avatar is the flag of the Byzantine Empire.

The Empire, I like the Imperial way of doing things. Though I doubt the PC would have a choice, since it doesn't carry over into future games. If there were multiple main story choices, and one canon choice, there would be a lot of unhappy players.

I have no idea. I don't know all the info yet, I'm not even sure why they're fighting. What are the rebels plans? Has the empire changed? What will it mean if there is no empire, and what will happen if the empire gains it's full strength back?

How can I say which side I'll take when I don't know what's going on?

My choice for which side to fight for will depend on how the story ends ups developing.

If the story ends up developing in a way in which both sides are "evil" then I'll probably go for a neutral/third party option, or whichever is the "lesser of two evils" in my mind.

Or as some have stated they decide to join forces against the dragons in the final battles or something.

Sounds like something Beth would write.

It has to be the Empire because of Canon. If you could choose either group then expect a Warp Of The West situation to occur for Elder Scrolls VI. Also who's to say that the resistance is friendly at all, for all we know they could be in with Alduin.

If you have to choose, I'd choose the Empire.

Why? You have 5 seconds to name any SINGLEPLAYER game you fight for any given Empire instead of against it WITHOUT becoming a rebel at some point in the game. Previous Elderscrolls games do not count.

Time's up. That's what I thought.

Joining the freedom fighters is so overused and you rarely see single player games that you fight for an empire and *not* turn against it as part of an extremely predictable plot twist.

True. However, I believe that that won't be the way that the story will start out. I think we'll probably be stuck in the Rebels v. Empire deal until far enough into the story Bethesda decides to suddenly drop the "Oh hey, there's a dragon we should unite against." deal on us. Afterward the story completely drops the Civil War and we're all left wondering at the end why the story stopped after the defeat of Alduin and why all of those rebels and soldiers are standing around armed for combat and all they talk about is the defeat of the big bad beasty. :P

+1
I'd like the opportunity to defend/reform a benevolent and organized empire instead of the obvious destruction of a corrupt one. Even though the Septims are gone,, they have a chance to become a legitimate republic through the Elder Council now.

I'm hesitant about choosing sides, mainly because I don't want the end to be Daggerfall'd, but I think I'd go for the rebels. Civil wars a great for story potential, and two different factions claiming to be the Empire later one would be awesome! Yay politics!

I doubt I'd join either side until I understood the politics involved.

If given the option, I will raise a third faction which will hoard riches, torture their victims and ultimately take over Skyrim for my own benefit.

Im gonna use my evil glitch-magic and summon a army of deadra, take over Skyrim, then the world, become a Deadric prince of Mundus, and finally order the systematic killing of all non-mer/beast-folk under my banner. then mount a invasion of Akivir as a dlc for $300.

or, u know, ill side with the rebels. only if they get to be MY rebels. http://static.zenimax.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/gun.gif

Definitely rebelling. It's not that I don't like the empire, but I think it makes for a classic feel to rebel against the official empire lol

What is the difference? Is Empire a "good" democracy and the Resistance an "evil" dictatorship. If so, I will probably go for Resistance as I am making an evil character and they rarely like order, freedom or balance. I will be an agent of chaos. :flamethrower::ahhh:

Hard to decide before we see who is on each side, how corrupted the factions are, and is the other one really more evil.

My character believes in people working out their differences and getting along...for the greater good. If there's a path she can follow to make that happen, that's what she'll do.

:tes:

Same here. My character is going to find out as much as possible about the factions before making the decision where he stands.

Possibly it will be:
"Viva Knights of the Resistance!"
(Edit: Because the majority of Argonians are likely on the east side)

Why is there a civil war going on?
What is the Empire's role in it?

If they make you choose, and if, for some reason, they make you be the leader of it, I just hope it doesn't turn into [censored] 3. I'm not even going to say it. *shudders*
