I was under the impression that there was supposed to be a trail of some sort that is supposed to help me find quest objectives, yet I see no such thing! I have quests active in the journal too.

For that matter, why are spiderwebs invisible?

Had the same issues. Update your graphic card drivers and it should fix it..
