Class Forums, yes or no?

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 5:05 pm

I get this strange feeling inside when I think about the idea of class forums.

If it were to happen, it would feel like Bethesda was admitting defeat and their system really is just a glorified 3 class system.

Which I don't really believe, but that is the feeling I get.

I voted no, but I would vote Yes to a single "Character Builds" forum.

Agreed :)

I voted no, because there really isn't any definitive classes. But a character build forum would be a good idea.

So when people make threads that results as boredom? Ok.

Yes, I ask if people are bored when they make nonsensical threads.

It might make some level (albeit a very low level) of sense to create racial sub-forumss; at least that is quantifiable. But, again, there are no classes. So, if you aren't going to respond to my questions about how you prose to solve that one little sticky-wicket in your "pole," then I'll consider you a bored troll.

That would result as over 15 Different forums, Jesus Christ what is so hard to understand that there are 3 Generic Classes at TES series and over 20 different builds.

There is a near infinite amount of builds.

There are no classes no matter how many times you say there are.

Mixing those ends up as different BUILD, generic class is [censored] Mage, Thief and Warrior. Now it would up to you if you want to build up as pure mage or battlemage, what ever makes you happy.

Separating them in that manner would be completely arbitrary and serve no purpose at all. Like others have said, if anything like this were to be done the best way would probably be a single "Builds" section.

I don't see the point.

More forums to be modded.
There are no official classes
If you can't find a "guide" for a magic/thief/combat user, try using that handy search function that every forum in existence has.
If you just seperated them into magic/combat/stealth then where am I going to ask my nightblade/battlemage questions?

To make a whole forum to talk solely about Alchemy, Light Armor, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Sneak and Speech seems a bit much. Not only that, but in these 3 forums you'd have so many crossover ideas, that it would end up being a jumbled mess.

I like the idea of having a single build section. I do agree they need more forums to help spread out some of the madness that happens in general.

You people need to learn difference between CLASS and BUILD.

Please, enlighten us.

You can start with the example already given of a character who sneaks around and whacks people with a Bound Greatsword, then raises their bodies. You've already asserted that there are only three classes, but it is not clear to me which class this character is. Is he a Thief because he sneaks around constantly? Is he a Warrior because he whacks people with giant swords? Or is he a Mage because he uses Conjuration skill heavily?

I'm also curious as to the source of your assertion that Warrior, Mage, Thief is the definitive Blessed Trinity of classes. Why three? Why these three? What are the hard dividing lines that allow you to distinguish one from the others and what happens when you encounter a character who doesn't fit neatly into one (and only one) of them?

The Warrior/Mage/Thief thing goes all the way back to D&D, doesn't it?

That having been said... this game doesn't have three classes. The game doesn't have any classes. There are certain batches of skills that fall within certain archetypes, but the skills are so disparate that making subforums based on them would be stupid.

What would be the sense of a mage subforum that didn't talk about alchemy? Don't you think that's mage-related? Why can't I talk about smithing just because I wear light armor? Etc. ad nauseam.

there are no classes in skyrim so class forums are pointless. you are looking for a build forum.
