I guess it depends on how you play. I come into the game with predetermined roles/builds, I don't play like I want to, I play like my characters would want. He makes the choices, not me. With control, you never become a jack-of-all trades. You are your class, because you were always that class, whether the games would acknowledge it or not. If I want to play a different way, I make or play with another build. Eventually after a dozen builds you have any style you would want. A unique class name is just another customization I can have. I also noticed in that screen from the article that your birth-sign wasn't shown. Honestly I wanted a Daggerfall depth of class customization, you know the quiz and all.
Well, I didn't really mean you would be a jack-of-all. You still play like YOU want to, you are just playing a role. Example for my point is what if your opinion of what makes a Thief is different from mine? Maybe I think... my Thief should have skills in Illusion, but you believe your Thief should be purely non-magic. We both steal things, we'll both get noticed by the Thieves guild, and now if what they said is correct, I might get noticed by some others for my use of Illusion as well. Its more intuitive and creative this way. People wont pick a pre-made class just because that is what the devs say is a Thief, they'll pick the skills they believe a Thief should have.
