Well, you could lower the difficulty a slight bit if you actually want your magic/arrows to do any damage. My advice would be to just stick with your up close and personal thing, but if you're going to use magic, go for restoration. I hate having to rely on potions, my level 53 used blade block and blunt along with restoration he was unstoppable, i took down 13 vampires at one time with him lol. Also keep an eye on your fatigue bar, you'll do more damage this way. Getting your magic or marksman to do some damage at default difficulty just takes some time. Although only use marksman in sneak otherwise youll just be running away and firing countless arrows into your enemies.

It will help you, if you helped us with a little more info.

What's your level?
What are your Major and Minor skills, and their levels?
What armor and weapons are you using?
What level are your Attributes?

There is more to look at than just fatigue. That's why I asked you about your Atris and Skill numbers. Those numbers factor in the amount of damage you do and the amount of damage you can take. The area is not an issue, as enemies level with the character. If you need to adjust the diff, then by all means do it. There is no shame in lowering the diff. A lot of people in this forum play with a diff setting at around 30% - 45%.

I would advise you to read through the sections of the UESP Wiki, on leveling and weapon damage. Not just those, as there is a lot of helpful info. Just be warned of spoiler sections, in areas about quests.

Having said that, I would not go through it too much. As it could hinder you gaming experience more than it helps. If this is your first playthrough, It might be just as good to lower the diff, so you can find out things on your own. You will enjoy it better.

I take it that this is the default Warrior class, with Marksman as a minor skill.

Sneak will improve the results of your bow shooting. If you sneak while shooting, you get a 2x multiplier for the first hit, as a "sneak attack." That improves to 3x when you get Sneak up to 25. So it pays to sneak a lot, even if you're not really playing a stealthy character.

Don't forget the old, slip-up-from-behind-and-cave-your-skull-in-with-a-warhammer technique. :brokencomputer:

I'd also suggest conjuration magic. Once you get your skill to 25 in conjuration, you can summon things like scamps and skeletons to help you fight. They can be really helpful, not necessarily to defeat enemies on their own, but just to distract one whilst you whack a second.

Enchanting may also augment your arsenal. If you can keep your weapons charged up, you can keep delivering extra damage with the enchantments on your weapons.
