Classic Music Or Modern Music?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 11:05 pm

I mean, come on, Fallout Boy would obviously be the perfect music for this post-apocalyptic setting amiright? Guys? Guys?

Not wanting more Johnny Guitar doesn't mean wanting skrillex or lil' wayne...

This is totally reasonable. Vyvexthorne's link posted would be/should be totally acceptable. It would be a nice change.

People acting like because the bombs dropped the entire world is permanently stuck in the past, can't make any changes or come up with anything new in their time because "America never progressed any further before the bombs fell"

I guess you're abandoning the series. Some of the songs on Mojave Radio are from the 1990s and I believe I read one of the songs on RNV came out in 2003. :frog:

That's is exactly why this is a question, i have read all the post in this thread, i want to see thoughts of classic or modern music, because some people would prefer great artist of the past like Elvis, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, Johnny Cash. Now modern music id say Breaking Benjamin , Linkin Park, Panic at the disco, Eminem, Mgk, T.I

I Agree :disguise:

I would have to say mods is what is going to do this.

The game is amazing either way. :fallout:

My thoughts exactly. They hired someone to make a language for dragons in Skyrim, I think they can get someone to come up with a couple of songs that fit the Fallout theme.

I wonder if we will be hearing any colonial era music, you know, snare drums and flutes and the like?

Hmm, I suppose I mean if they ever get into the rock era. Country-Western doesn't really sound new.

Date of release doesn't matter, it's the aesthetic of the music. It's a niche audience, but there's plenty of 'retro' artists today who make music that sounds like old music genres. I'd quit Fallout if they went with a Payday soundtrack. Not that Payday's soundtrack is bad, but part of the biggest draws of Fallout for me is the 1940s-1950s-esque music.

Very true.

*The setting is the two centuries after the year 2077. There should be more than the top 50 songs from the 1950's. Even in the absurd case that they had to only be in the 1950's style, they would still be new songs in the 1950's style; not the original few songs from the 1950's.

Of which there were none in the first two games of the series. Both title tracks alluded to their golden age that was, and were written in the 1930's*.

*Though Armstrong did record that song in the 50's.

I think early 60's and 70's music (some of it anyways) would be acceptable. Some stuff i think would be difficult to do, but we only know a margin of the history in the fallout universe. So like very early Jimi Hendrix might be okay but only a few of his songs or some David Bowie songs but they would have to be select particular songs.

As for regular radio play... How about Herbaliser (with a request for a few 50's-ish tunes.)

They should have modern Boston musicians cover classic (pre-1960) music.

The Mutant techno station, with DJ Mattis (a play on Attis).

DJ Mattis: "You're listening to KMSTR, MONSTER RADIO! And we're coming at you with the last track published by Skrillex, before he was ruthlessly torn apart by snowmobiles..."

DJ Mattis: "Today, we're going to chat about basic survival. Crush your enemies and see them driven before you! Revel in the lamentations of the women! IS THERE NOTHING BETTER IN LIFE!? NO! THERE ISN'T! And now, Nine Inch Nails..."

DJ Mattis: "Today, I've just got some crazy bass and noises I whipped together. ENJOY IT OR I WILL DESTROY YOU!"
Radio: "MONSTER!"
DJ Mattis: "I should make a mix with that..."

DJ Mattis: "I MADE A MIX WITH THAT!"
Radio: "MONSTER! MONSTER! M-M-M-M-MONSTERrrrrrrrr-RRRRR!" *mixed noise*

Though if there is a Mutant Radio, the Monster Mash might be a suitable song.

Soothing reggae by Bob Marley or rock & roll with Johnny Cash.

I hope they don't include any modern music, at least nothing like dubstep or rap or anything of that sort. it wouldn't make sense, because fallout is an alternate timeline where those never existed.

The music is one of the reasons I love the game as well. If the music changed to something more modern sounding I would have some anger issues to work out. Hell, I haven't played FO3 in years and I still break out into the songs from time to time....

"Modern jazz artists" is a serious contradiction of terms. :P (I'm partly joking; I do enjoy Postmodern Jukebox, for example. They've still got nothing on the old masters, though.)

And for that we can all be very grateful.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Just goes to show you that for all that went wrong, at least some things turned out better in the Fallout universe. :P
