Clayfighter Wiiware

Post » Fri Aug 28, 2009 6:40 pm

Hi there!

What's the state of this production? Since it's supposed to come out in "summer", when can we expect to see something new from this one?

Greetings,
Manuel

Still not even screenshots though... :?

Here's one. But this is a DSiWare screen, not the Wii one. I'm looking forward to the Wii version since I don't own a DSi(yet)

And there's even more in the link below! :D

Interesting, can't find those screens anywhere else though including other sites, press resources, etc. Exclusive?

Can gamesas confirm the validity?

Those are promising shots, thanks for the heads up! Can anyone figure out whether it is a port/remake of a known Clayfighter game or if it is new?

All the characters and art style are the same as CF 63 1/3 and of Sculptor's Cut. Looks like a remake more than a sequel. I hope I'm wrong as I don't want a remake, but a 4th game in the series. They're probably just using the characters and art style from the last game for the sequel I assume, which is great IMO. I really love the character models from 63 1/3 more than the models from the 1st and 2nd games.

EDIT: Another website is reporting the screenshots as well. Link - http://www.aussie-nintendo.com/news/23363/ ImageCurrently playing - MDK2 (WiiWare)

I hope they do something about those backgrounds. I can barely make out the characters due to their contrast. Also not a fan of how that HUD looks.

There's some new info in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, according to this website called Aussie-nintendo.com. Once again, they're talking about the DSiWare version. No info on the Wii Version at all :(

I think it's safe to say it'll be 2011. Would be virtual suicide if they released it in 2010 given how a majority of the industry likely doesn't know it's even coming out!

Edit: Adding to this, they seem to be appealing a lot to Nintendo sites but classic ClayFighter fans have moved on to other things. I doubt many of them realize these remakes, sequels, etc are even in development.

So the DSiWare version is a port/remake of the 3rd game in the series that appeared on the N64. But instead of calling it by the original name, 63 1/3, they are subtitling it "Call of Putty". I see they're making fun of the extremely popular "Call of Duty" series, and I find the subtitle to be very clever.
But does anyone else agree that they should create a new storyline to reflect the subtitle? The story in 63 1/3 didn't have anything to do with being called to "duty" or anything. It seems they are just porting over an older game and calling it something else.

I hope the WiiWare version is not the same port but an actual 4th game in the series. But if it is, I still won't mind cause I LOVE 63 1/3 and will play it till the end of time.

That's seems very unrealistic to me. Most likely all of those games will be pushed into 2011 since there's no info at all. They shouldn't have announced a release quarter until they were sure enough that the game would've been ready by then. It kinda irritates me that all their WiiWare games will not make their announced release date. ImageCurrently playing - MDK2 (WiiWare)

Truth to be told, I've stopped waiting for any of them months ago, after the cancellation of Earthworm Jim and the delay of Clayfighter. Certainly none of them will still be released this year, if ever.

If you look at the major WiiWare online resource NintendoLife, they don't even bother listing them as announced (except MDK2):

Well it was debated anyway so maybe it was never announced?

Jokes aside, I thought you were talking about Earthworm JIm 4.

Well, that indeed wouldn't need canceling, since just like Descent 4 or MDK 3 it was never announced.
