"Clean" saving and keeping modded content/items

Post » Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:21 pm

I had to do some updates to the mods I'm using, and wanted to do a "clean save" to make sure everything updated/worked. Didn't have any problems; but now any equipment/items I had that were added by mods have disappeared...
I've tried stripping myself of all items and put them in a locker; but they're still gone when I re-load my mods. This really sets me back (even tho I'm almost lvl 25) and screws over my game; so is there any way to keep my equipment?
I'm using pretty much all the FOIP addons (MMM, FWE, EVE, WMK, etc.)

Thanks for any help! I did a search but as with most forums, the search is near pointless and turned up 100's of results with no relevance lol

If you clean save a mod out of your game, there's no way to keep the equipment you had from those mods. You could revert to a save made before you deactivated the mods or you could add all of the items you lost back to yourself through the console.

There's no way to do a clean save and keep your equipment. However, you can possibly get it back.

Put all the items from the mod(s) into one container, and nothing else in there. Open the console, click the container, and type "showinventory." Write down everything that pops up (use Page Up and Page Down to scroll through the list). Now, do the clean save, then upgrade the mod(s) in question. Finally, take that list and use the additemhealthpercent to add back your items at the same health as they were before. For example, let's say you had a Mega Rifle at 92.7%, and its formID is 21000EA6. You would type:
player.additemhealthpercent 21000EA6 1 0.927
And that would add back the same item at the same health. If you prefer, you can just use the additem command and get stuff back at full health:
player.additem 21000EA6 1 (the 1 in both commands refers to the quantity).

Hope this helps!

ok, I didn't think so but I wanted to make sure as it's pretty much a requirement when you update mods. Thanks for the tip on getting a list of all my stuff at once! I wasn't looking forward to placing and clicking each item in front of me thru the console hehe. I think now I'll just keep all moded items in one container so I don't have to rummage around for them again when more updates come out lol

Thanks for the help guys!
