Sorry if this has been brought up before but I'm close to throwing my Xbox out the window. When I tried to learn clear skies went to the arrow on the ground and. Nothing happened. Thought must have had to clear other quests so went about the game for countless hours so a reload isn't really an option. Is there a way to sort this? It isn't in my shout menu. Any help greatly appreciated

I have sometimes not learned words from the Greybeards directly.
Instead they appeared on the ground as written, and when I stood on them I learned the words.
You could try that though I dont think there is much chance.

You could also try to climb up the mountain with a horse and bypass the mist barriers, though I do not know if Paarthunax appears if you dont use the shout.

thanks merari tried that and also managed to climb up and no dragon. do you think they will fix it in a patch

I had the same problem the second time I played through that part. I reloaded the auto save from leaving High Hrothgar and was able to get it to work. You have to stand almost right on the quest arrow and move around a little bit.

When I played through that quest, I noticed your oriantation to the words affected you learning them. It took me a seccond to stand in the right spot so that I was looking at them directly in front of of me (looking down at the ground at the words) to actlually learn the word. Or, as MagicRat said, you might have to reload, which may mean that you will have to go back through those hours of game play again. It happens sometimes.
