[RELz] Clep Home

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2009 9:16 am

-I moved the storage room to a bigger room.
-I fixed the Headwears to read Headwear.
-I added an aquarium to the bedroom.

I am still playing around with the aquarium area, so lighting has to be worked on. In the picture below, you are able to store things under the aquarium. You can't see much of that area now, but that will be fixed. There is a slight lag, but nothing bad. I have to play the game on the lowest settings, so that says a lot for anyone else.

I am going to move the mannequin platforms to the storage area, from the bedroom. I think it is kinda freaky to have the mannequins where you sleep anyways.

Aquarium right above the bed....nice. You might even consider giving it red and say white light colors for it to stand out.

The storage room is bigger and the mannequins moved to there is a great idea.

I guess the mannequins in the bedroom could be creepy...didn't think of it before...but now that you've said it...I can't forget.

And one last suggestion...Maybe, just maybe light the storage room with a different color tint...perhaps a *cough* light bluish *cough* color...hmm seem to have caught your cold. :P Again these are just suggestions meant to spark ideas, not requests.

Looking good...

P.S. I've gone back and forth with Lucy and Brianna companions and I'm getting mixed results too. I tried the using a door first and it does work...most of the time. But a couple times not. This part of modding unfortunately is new to me so going into the GECK and trying to figure it out has been fruitless thus far. But it sounds like you had an idea of what was happening...

Keep up the good work.

Very nice, I like the changes Miss Sparkle. To be honest, not having the companions follow me into the house doesn't bother me, as they have a nasty tendancy to knock over carefully placed displays (and they always complain loudly when YOU kick a can in a ruined street...) But it is something you asked for feedback on, so I did some testing. :) So long as they aren't running around all over and don't get stuck because I popped in the house for a bit, It's all good for me.

One minor quibble I was going to change in my copy of the house was I was going to make the room with the kitchen and medical bay larger. It seemed a bit strange to have them in one room, so I was going to push them apart, add a little lounge area in the middle and partially close off the medic bay with some bookshelves or something. It's a fairly minor thing to do in GECK (which is about where my modding level is at right now. :) ) and a personal preference, so not really a change request. Just mentioning it.

I love Rayek's mini bunker house, as I'm sure he knows since I comment on his mod a lot. :) Unfortunately I find it largely unusable now. All the moving water (aquarium, fountain behind the swords, the jacuzzi water spray) makes things fairly laggy when moving through the central area. Not hugely bad, but enough to give me medium-strength system a decent performance hit. I still keep it and visit now and then, but it's stopped being my default home these days. Of course that's due in part to some other mods that I've started using that add extra function and design to the stock Megaton/Tenpenny houses.

I definitely see myself using th Clep House as my main home from now on, until I find something I like better. :) It's got most everything I could want.. A few things could be added to it, but not really needed. The best part for me is the teleport from anywhere design.. One of my favorite mods in Oblivion is pretty much the same as this. A house that you can teleport to, drop stuff off and keep adventuring. It helps enable my OCD tendency to sweep dungeons for all the valuable loot I can carry :)

Fixed so it describes my level of cleaning.
Kidding, kidding. I learned at a early age of my life as a RPG gamer to do a check on how much something is worth compared to how much it weighs. I quickly learned that Limewear plates and whatnot are better then almost anything dwemer, save for coins(which are way better then anything in terms of worth/weight, since they reach 500 per full unit of weight).
I missed that in this game, items being worth so much that you have to stop and think about the value of what you already have against the value of what you could have. Only clutter worth grabbing were prewar books, and items for quests, where as in MW you often had to decide "should I loot the armory, or go straight to the vaults?" now and then.

@ Rayek - I moved the aquarium up so it sits in the middle now. It allows for storage on the top as well as the bottom, looks much better that way. Great minds think alike cause I already added yellowish lights to both the top and the bottom shelves (the amb light only so far). I still have to do some tweaking with lights, but yes I think it really brings out the whole room.

The mannequin stands are re-sized and placed in the storage room now. I really like it better that way, and now all the stands are the same size, as well as a little bit bigger and balanced. I changed the lights in the storage room so they are blue now :D I have been dying to use blue but I didn't want to walk into your territory. Of course when you suggested it, I was like "yes!" and ran to make the change right away!

I was testing Jessi and Bittercup (2 versions mentioned) and 9 times out of 10 Jessi never wanted to follow (but she has her own teleport device so that wasn't an issue). The glasses I believe conflict each other if more than one is being used. There is only 1 marker that marks location and it might get confused when more than one person teleports. I will spend more time with that next week though... if I can't come up with something, people will just have to rely on their companion being smart enough to teleport to the player, or just tell them to wait for you  Either way, it will be navmeshed and tested with Jessi and Bittercup just for giggles if nothing else.

@ Ashya - Thank you very much :D As you may have noticed, my pictures evolve and change, so those aren't final images, as a matter of fact, both those images already changed a lot :lmao: Yeah, I wanted to check Jessi into the medical area when I saw her go straight for the toilet and have a seat. I never even used the game companions, so this is a whole new ball park for me. I figured that maybe one day I may want to use one, and many others do, so I will try my best!

After I finish up the Bedroom, the Storage room and re-texture and place a work bench, I will see what I can do about the main area there. I am sure while I am working on the other things, something will pop into my head, usually always does :D It is the least I can do for helping to test and the feedback you have given me :) Just name the things that you want used.

I don't think I can play a game without a teleport home or a bag of holding feature, I can't leave things behind, so we are the same when it comes to that :D I made a clep home for Oblivion first and it turned into Clep Reborn after I learned more things. Oblivion modding and Fallout 3 are different, I felt like I had to learn modding all over again. Thank you very much!

@ YX33A - I know that many things are worthless, but I still can't leave them behind. It isn't even the money I am after, it is cause I want to use things for decoration, memory, or to just clean up the area. Funny, in real life I am not like that at all, I have no problem throwing things away, but in the game, totally different story

:woot: Aquarium lights and Blue lights! :woot: Sounds awesome Miss Sparkle...please if you like any ideas or something in my hideout go right ahead...I take it as a compliment not stepping on toes. Half my hideout is borrowed ideas/mods from other people anyway

Not to derail Miss Sparkles thread Ashya, but I'm curious as to what's your name on Nexus? Thank you for the kind words on the hideout...sorry about the lag...but you've found an awesome new home so you are in good hands! :celebration:

Have a happy 4th all...for one day you should be called Miss Sparkler! :biglaugh:

I'm known as NekoAli over at Nexus. I've made a lot of comments on your mini hideout mod, Rayek. :) It's always been one of my more favorite house mods. As I said, I still use it, just not as an exclusive home like I used to. Unfortunately the things causing the lag are part of the charm of the mod, so removing them kind of defeats the purpose... Ah well, some day I'll have a better video card. I'm still trying to find the hidden room you put in the hideout.. no hints though, I want to find it myself. :)

I am looking forward to seeing the next version of the Clep house. The changes going in sound really good. I'll have to go snag some mannequins to set up in the storage room now.

NekoAli! One of the earlier commenters...of course I remember

Mystery Room is yet to be added...next version :) Wouldn't want you wandering around there too much

You are in good hands now with Clep Home. I agree the changes sound really good...I'm looking forward to blue lights! Don't know why but I just like em...

I have no doubt the storage changes, aquarium and did I mention blue lights?...will be awesome.

Changes look good Miss Sparkle :coolvaultboy: You can never have enough storage space IMO :D

I've seen me take a week to get home after clearing out an area far from home, I never use fast travel and always end up with something like 500% overweight showing on the DarN UI. If it is not nailed down then its mine :biglaugh: I can't leave anything!!

I regard this mod as a logical expansion of Quarns 'Sack of Holding/Vault-Tec Experimental Dimensional Safe' only far more comfortable and homey

Aquarium is awesome, since using Rayek's great home I can't get enough of that so very pleased to see it here.

Ashya's suggestion of a more cordended off medi-bay area sounds good :)

Have a happy 4th everyone :foodndrink:

I wonder if there would be a way to add a auto sorter intere so all you do is put every thing into one bin hit a button and it moves it to its respective bin ( not shure if that would work with other mod items unless theres some sort of basic identification for each item)
also does any one know a better more precise way of moving things around ingame other then holding them with z im trying to decorate but its hard to get some things to stand up.

I wish there was.. decorating is such a pain without it. As far as getting bottles and stuff to stand on end, patience... I find that you can go a little past the end of a bottle or whatever and still grab it. That way you'll find it 'dangling' from where you grabbed and it's easier to get things to stand on end that way.

Thank you so very much everyone! I don't have time to reply to each of you at this moment, but tomorrow I will! Too much to do today, very rushed :(

I am debating if I do a quick fix for the little issues now and then to a new esp of the expansions and updated items, or just spend the time with the new esp expansion. I want to do a new esp cause I hate to delete things cause it makes me feel like I am making my mod dirty (isn't the case, but I am a perfectionist and even when I know these things, it bugs me). It shouldn't take long (2 weeks max) since I have most of the things re-textured anyways, just a matter of adding them. I also hate to think that if I delete something, that I missed textures and meshes to delete as well.

I will take today to think about it. I have lots of ideas, and may even work on some sorters as well. I will let everyone know what I come up with tomorrow. Thank you for understanding, reading, and commenting! Keep the suggestions and comments coming :hugs: !

I hope everyone had a very nice 4th of July weekend! Last night I released a small update for a few tiny fixes:
-Changed the Radio Station to GNR
-Moved 2 pictures to a another spot so the lighting glitch didn't show up on them (from the storage room)
-Added a workbench to the top of the file cabinets
-Changed Headwears to Headwear
-Removed the glasses from Companion Items Container and made 2 more teleport glasses (each with their own teleport script and markers) to place in the container.
-Rotated the stools a tad bit to eliminate the small clipping of hands on kitchen island.

I can't say I fixed the companion situation, but if you can get the companion to wear and take off the glasses, then there shouldn't be a problem anymore. Probably best not to bring companions in there anyways.

I was working to expand Clep Home, but I had hit a snag with the room where the containers are placed now. I wanted to move the medical area there (was sized down smaller) but it just didn't look and feel right. I also kept thinking of how many downloads and how many people already started decorating. I didn't want to ruin the work that anyone put into decorating. There is also the containers where I fixed the spellings in the game, but I wanted to fix the file names as well, that would mean that I need to make new containers. This would also mean that I need to delete the old and add new, so to me, it feels like it is dirty when it really isn't.

I have decided that I am going to make a new home with the same method, your ideas, but bigger and more features. The name will be Clepified. There is going to be:
-Big Storage/Display room as the center room (double the size of the main room in the Clep Home (already started it)
-Kitchen/Dining room
-Office/Medical room
-Bedroom (toying with the idea of a master bedroom with another bedroom or 2 for companions)
-Entertainment room
-Bathroom off of the entertainment room

I am not going to start a WIPz on Clepified until I am about 80% done with it, cause I don't know how long it will take me to finish it. I am taking your ideas from here and bringing them to Clepified, so if you really need to, you can either beg me to make a Wip thread so you can voice your ideas or you can just post them in here :P

@ Rayek - You will have your aquarium and blue lights in Clepified :D Thank you for the permission to use anything from your mod, I try to keep mine original, but you really do have so many awesome things about your mod going on!

@ Ashya - You will have your separate rooms and bigger storage room, and plenty of space for companions to move around in without them knocking over your hard work :D

@ Xiomberg - I know what you mean about taking everything that isn't nailed down, I am the same way! I also love to display my own loot, that is why I need bigger and more areas to place them all :D This is the best option to make things bigger and more of a home feeling as well. I can make a better medical area as well.

@ pawnofchaos - I am going to try my hand at the sorters. I was given permission to use DToms' sorter script about a month ago, but at the time I couldn't figure it out. I have more time now where I can test and figure it out, so I want that feature in Clepified.

Thank you everyone for the reply!

Whee! Sounds great, Miss Sparkle. I can't wait to try out the update. And then I can go back to camping out waiting for version 2 to arrive, which sounds really nice. Knowing that you will be updating the place, I haven't done a lot of decorating yet, mostly placing things around and seeing how they work. So far I've been good about keeping the companions away from my stuff, nothing has been knocked over yet. Sasha Ashe is house-sitting for me (it's so handy to have a vendor there, I can pop in, drop off what I want to keep, sell what I don't, then go right back to the killing and collecting. :) ) She seems unduly fascinated with the toilet still... I guess she's not used to um... 'using the facilities' instead of using it as a water fountain. :)

Eagerly looking forward to more updates.

Feel free to make any changes that you wish, cause unless there is a major problem (highly doubtful) than Clep Home is done. Clepified is a whole new mod, same concept but much better on a grander scale. I have learned a lot so far while I was making Clep Home, and I know I will learn a lot more while making Clepified.

I love hearing how people are using Clep Home, it gives me some ideas and improvements to work on :) Maybe the companions think the toilet is cleaner than the stools? Or maybe the clean toilet is something new and they are just so fascinated by it

I just had the best idea it kinda takes after the fish tank idea. you know how you can scale down things like people have done with robots and such to add interesting clutter well if you could scale down some mole rats put them in a tank like guinea pigs as pets! or even regular sized ones as pets that would be great!

The best similar concept thing I've seen is the miniature mirelurk aquarium. Complete with a little castle for them to swim around. :) The result of what happens when a bored Moira gets a hold of Doctor Lesko's formula after finishing her mirelurk research for the guide...

Just a quick comment or 2 or 3, lol. I downloaded Clep last night and had a few thoughts, most of which you appear to already be addressing. So far, it's one of the best I've played around in. I love the teleporter and hope more people start using that feature.

Also GREAT IDEA for a larger storage room. That would really, really help! I have gotten pretty good at manipulating in game objects, so it didn't take me too long to get the containers like I like them to be. However, I can definitely see how many folks might get really frustrated trying to move them around in that narrow space.

PROS:
I love the volume of the radio. It's not too loud when you are close, but not too low when a little further away! Great job on that! ( I use the GNR add on for 100+ songs and really like the radio on all the time, lol)
I love that you didn't go crazy with decorations, as us decorate-o-holics would have nothing to do.
Plenty of shelving for decorating & storage!
Nice clean layout (your pics on here don't do it justice!)
Great lighting – not too dark, but not too bright. Well done!
Love the custom art!
Enough named containers in main storage room that anyone should be able to customize their own sorting taste to suit themselves. I would probably only use 8 or 10 at the most for my sorting preferences.

EDIT - Oh yeah, I just remembered another thing I thought was awesome. NO FOG!!! I cannot tell you how I HATE rooms that you look to the other side of the room and it looks like the room is full of smoke like the house is on fire. Your's is crystal clear as it should be!

CONS
No “My First Infirmary” or My First Laboratory” (at least I couldn’t find one, lol)
Named file cabinets by desk. (That’s just a personal preference, but everyone may not want to put holodisks or whatever they are named in them. Plain old “File Cabinet” would suffice for me)
Minor grammar errors such as “Headwears” & “Kitchenwares” & “Armors” (Those are only minor issues, but thought you still might like to know about them.

SUGGESTIONS
Looks like you already plan for a huge upgrade so that really takes care of a lot of things that others are suggesting. If I may add a feature that I really like from the Built for the Future mod, and that is display stands. Here are some pics I did if you want some ideas:
http://ypdesign.com/fo3/displays.htm

After many, many hours of painstakingly decorating and displaying stuff (I’ve played so much I am getting bored, lol) I have realized that little stands like this that are about knee high are the easiest do set up a display on as long as you have 4 to 6 feet directly in front of it to move around in. Adding a room with 15 or 20 display stands like this would ROCK!!! (Be sure you can hear the radio in there too, lol!)

Anyhow, whether you do any of that stuff or not, you have created an incredible & awesome player home! Thank you for your great work. I can’t wait to get back home and play around some more!

@ Rayek - Thank you :D Ha! Even doing one thing can make a persons head explode :chaos: Luckily those are the times when you feel most proud that you finally finished it.

@ pawnofchaos - I am going to keep the fish tank as is, but I like your idea of having a pet as well :D I am not sure what kind of pet I will do yet, but I love the idea of a pet roaming around!

@ Ashya - Love that castle idea the person came up with :D Maybe if I get creative enough, I will have some toys that the pet of Clepified can interact with. I don't know if it is possible yet, but if anything, people can pretend ;)

[edit] Whoops, balok just posted, let me go read and reply back here :D

[edit again] @ Balok I love reviews like the one you just posted! It really gives me an idea of what people look for, need, like, don't like, etc :D I believe everything you suggested and more is already planned for the Clepified home mod. Funny you should mention those stands, cause I already placed 8 of them in the new mod, they are a tad bit lower in height, but seems to be the same size. I had them placed for mannequins to be placed on, but I will add some more for item storage as well. The best part is that they are containers so that you can store stuff in them :D

The radio sound I didn't have anything to do with, but now that you brought that up, you got me curious if I can change the sound, and if I can, I will make double sure it can be heard just loud enough but not too loud!

Thank you for pointing those containers out! I will have a fix for them, me and grammar just don't get along as you can tell (thank goodness for Firefox and the spelling mistake feature). It also doesn't help when I do most of my modding so late at night lol.

I am going to go ahead and make a Clepified home WIPz in a few days here. Clepified probably won't be done for a month or 2, but I like to have the ideas that people want early on so I can keep in my mind to make room for such features.

Thank you again everyone!!

[Edit again] Here are some sample shots of what I am working with so far: http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l441/Mysticgaminggal/Clepified/ScreenShot297.jpg and http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l441/Mysticgaminggal/Clepified/ScreenShot298.jpg. Everything is subject to change, and pay no attention to the lighting, that will change for sure.

Just wanted to say...wait for it...a little bit more...since I have to do another update, you all better make sure you don't get too happy with storing your items in those movable containers :P The containers are getting re-done. What does that mean? It means the next update to Clep home will have a big update.

Bigger storage room (30% done)
Fishtank in bedroom (85% done)
Workbench moved to the old storage room that is now smaller (done)
My first lab
Infirmary
File cabinets renamed (still keeping them there, just renamed to general storage)
...and possibly an auto sorter (not for weapons or armor though, still trying to work on them not being put into containers as fully fixed, Wyked gave me a script to make it work properly, but you have to keep clicking for each amount you have. I may have to have this require FOSE for the loop action.)
and possibly more, to tired to think straight :P

I'm going to bet Clepified...but I'll let Miss Sparkle answer.

The new Mannequin displays and labeled ammo boxes look great. Love the little things like the floor tiles/grates match the width of the new mannequin area in the corner, helps make the home feel organized.

This is going to be every pack rats favorite home.

Now.. is this an update for the Clep home, or changes for Clepified? Since I thought you were spending your time on Clepified now...

This is for Clep Home :) Since there were 3 more spelling errors, I really need to do those containers over again. I also figured that since I know how to set up the auto sorters now, I can set some up to be auto sorted. Since there was also a request for the Lab and the Infirmary, I can now make use of the old storage room.

The bad news is that it is going to have to be a big download since I have to get rid of the old container texture names (I don't want anyone to have unused textures cluttering up space) and make new ones.

I know, I am sorry for the confusion :(
