Client Download Issues [merged]

Post » Sat Mar 15, 2014 9:14 am

Has anyone found a solution to slow client downloads? The ESO client is downloading content at about 200-400 kb/sec, which means the game will finish downloading in a week, lol.

Its not a firewall or a connection issue.

Anyone found a solution to that?

I'm downloading with 4,5MB/s. So I guess only solution is to get better network.

So around 8 this morning I checked the beta, it patched. And I was good, now around 16:45 today I loaded the launcher up, and I saw it was downloading again. Just checking my Cdisk and all the space that was the beta, was back. From 250gig, up to 300ish all of a sudden, I got very confused but I let it download.

Around 1 hour ago it was finished, and now I started it up, loading screen, waiting and waiting... 15 minutes later, I close the game. I get a crash report, write what happened and sent.
Then restarting the game, and it downloads another 20gig file... what?

So it went from being totally downloaded, to removed and redownload, to working but not logging in... to download another 20gig? Whaaat?

//Utterly confused player.

Are you in the PTS or did you try the EU (or NA server which ever would be on the other side of the pond for you) in the last beta?

Technology does not always work the way one assumes it will and when it doesn't the best solution is to gyrate like a mad monkey and run to the forums to scream at those responsible.

Wait - this is a beta. Nothing is guaranteed, so no one is to blame but those who assume - and that phrase about assuming is so appropriate, except for the bit about 'me' - just the 'u' part is relative.

My network is fine. I am downloading everything else at 4+ MB/sec. Something's wrong with the ESO client...

I have the same problem. Only ~300K/s download speed.

In parallel i need to download an update for another game. 1.2GB was downloaded within less than 10 minutes. The download speed

of ESO did not goes down while doing this.

So it is not MY internet connection or my PC or the weather or whatever you want to tell us.

Moreover, here in Europe you will easily find other forums with threads complaining about this issue, too.

So i would assume that Lycrates is right^^

If we will see these download "down-under-speed" when updating the game later that this will be not funny.

And i'm going to became afraid about latency IN the game :/

/regards

D.

Then indeed I got no idea - there must be something with client.

But there are other hints on forum, since I almost uploaded I will not check them, but may be it is not required to reupload everything.

Deleting the player seems to have worked for me. Thanks Hunter.

I have had this exact same thing happen to me, client crashes, restart, downloads again. Checking installation directory on disk reveals all game files have been removed. Twice. I am on a Mac are you on PC? Just wondering if there is any point in downloading the PC client.

Where is this mythical player file that I'm supposed to remove? Does it also need to be removed if this is my first beta weekend?

meh. people who waited until today to start downloading, probably deserve to wait out the issues, because the issues are caused by people flooding the launcher.

No - it is for those who did used last beta on US servers, then upgraded US version and then switched to EU, In this scenario clent tries to reupload everything.

The launcher slow speeds have been happening for a while now, its not new. I was hoping that ZOS would have found a solution by now, but I guess not.

ok, not I got it - there were few updates and if someone had US server selected all were done to US folder. If it was switched to EU then all patches (including one complete reupload) must be applied one by one. That is bug becuase in case reupload all is selected then at least latest version should be chosen.

Also each upload takes three phases:

"Downloading" - from net

"Applying patch" - that is faster because files are copied on disk.

"Verifying" - that seems last and very fast step
