Cliff Racers & Collision

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:05 am

I was wondering how collision works for racers. Specifically, does their collision box include their wings, or not? If it does, is there any way to remove collision from the wings, so this only affects their body (nose to tail)?

I have tried to figure this out myself (in Nifskope) but can't even work out how to find their collision box, so I'm kinda stuck.

I was thinking maybe if collision only applied to a racers body, this might stop them getting stuck on trees, etc, quite so often (since logically they'd be able to fold their wings to glide between branches anyway) but wouldn't mean they'd suddenly start flying straight through mountains & buildings, which they obviously would if collision was removed completely.

I've just been noticing racers getting stuck in trees a lot lately, I guess....... ^_^

I use them getting stuck in trees to my advantage when trying to avoid the bleeders!

Personally, I can't understand what's wrong with their collision, but in completely different way than you. I want them to have more collision, or something, so far I had some serious problems hitting one with any type of marksman weapon, it just goes trough them. :brokencomputer:

I too, would be interested in a mod that made those vile creatures easier to hit.
Not for cheating, but simply because their current bounding box settings make
it so hard to connect a blow with most types of weapon.

When I play a warrior type PC, I always use Spear as one of my main weapon skills.
A spear's exceedingly long reach makes it perfect for hitting oddly shaped, or oddly collisioned
creatures, like most beasts... ESPECIALLY Cliff Racers.

Also, due to a Cliff Racer's odd shape, I recommend aiming for the tail.
It seems to work for most people.

Umm, yes... I completely forgot about the fact you need collision boxes in order to be able to actually hit things.

All the same, arrows would be much more likely to pass through a wing (as in, skimming the feathers, or something?) than they would be to pass right through the body, so I still think removing collision from the wings would be quite a good idea, if it meant racers were less likely to get stuck all the time anyway. ^_^
