Clothing/hair physics

Post » Wed Jun 15, 2011 3:30 pm

I'm hoping Skyrim will have some sort of physics for clothing or hair. At least clothing, I hated in New Vegas when I got my NCR Ranger attire the ends of the duster would just conform to my legs when ever I was walking or running and it looks so awkward and hideous. What do you guys think of it?

Sorry, the long skirts and robes are going to be just as conforming as the dusters were in F:NV. And the hair will probably be stiff as wire.

In a console game? Yeah, right. So far it's only in tech demos and PC exclusives.

The Giants bags in the E3 demo say otherwise, they seem to suggest that there are some pretty good physics at work. If they put physics into Giants, then why not put it into the rest of the game?

Seen no cloth physic, however hair is probably real improved over Oblivion, two ways. First layered hair, put on a helmet and the at the back is still visible. Ability have longer hair, problem in Oblivion was that hair was just parented to the head for some reason, they will probably handle it like hoods so it lower part is parented to the chest.

Meh. Maybe the bags are on their own set animations?

Well, I'd like some animation for hair (specifically ponytails and that) and clothing that should move around noticeable like the above mentioned duster coat thing or long mage robes. I don't really care for really complex/awesome cloth physics, but it'd be nice to some set animation to them so they at least move - like the Jedi robes in KotoR2 and such. Just enough to not break immersion, beyond that I couldn't really care. ^_^

Unreal Tournament 3. Assassins Creed 1, 2, 3, and soon 4.

Just to name a few.

Really meh though. Nothing like how Batman: Arkham Asylum (PC version on Nvidia cards) or Eve Online did it. Not even close.

Beat me to it, but fable 2 and fable 3 stick in my mind.

I was going to suggest Fable myself... seriously, they have been doing cloth and hair physics for a while now on consoles, or games in general. Hell, even Zelda: Twilight Princess at least had a physics system added to Link's hat... o.o
