[WIPz] *E.C.F.R. Clothing Replacer/Additions

Post » Sun May 02, 2010 8:36 am

I'm keeping the "armoured" parts of the robe (so as to
give the appearance of armour while not interfering with
the armour choice of the player while still maintaining a
cohesive look [outwardly so]). All of these outfits thus far
are going to be "robes", as such lends itself as a far more
friendly way to replace the look of NPCs without interfering
with the gear that they are already wearing (should something
on certain NPCs be crucial to quest and what have you). I kept
the plating on these a very common appearing metal so as to
blend with most armour sets, regardless (so no worries). Also,
such types of robes appease my desire as a "stylist" of sorts ;) .

As far as the legion armour goes, it too will eventually be replaced
with a new version (following through with the drake theme and a
similar metal scheme). This, however, is farther down the line as
far as this mod goes (so again, no worries ;) ).

That imperial robe looks really nice; I like that by having the armor plates you'll be able to replace their look entirely but it will still be as if they're wearing their armor underneath -- clever work! And I can think of some MCA characters who would benefit from having that sort of a look rather than the red crosses they bear currently... can't wait =)

Also, I really like the blue summerset boots.

Here's a quick look at Melisande wearing the female version
of the Legion Robe (to better illustrate the placement of the
shoulder armour so that all other pauldrons would naturally fit
in the clavicle spot as well as to put the robe in perspective/context
how it would look on an NPC :) ).

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/EFCR/WAR_LEGIONROBE_02a.jpg

EDIT: Here are some quick additional screens
of my testing a few of the previously shown articles...

The last two are the "dress" counterparts to the robes
(the difference being, of course, that the dresses are not
set up as robes, but as "skirts", so that they can show a
wee bit of skin [as was the fashion from which the
inspiration for the dresses came).

Looks fantastic :) So... you're going to retexture all the vanilla armor, clothing, and weapons as well so nothing looks out of place on NPCs, right? :P :deal:

Looks good :) Doesn't clash too badly with the vanilla graphics as well. I've noticed a tiny-amount of clipping with the shoulders on the Crimson Countess Dress, though that could be due to the position of the character.

This would be worn by the guards and low ranking Legion members :) .??
Higher ranking members would recieve robes that are a bit more ornate
and of deeper tones (ex. The templar version of the robe would be red
and gold to match the templar armour).??The robe, when worn, will
identify you as a member/qualify as a uniform (so that any armour of
your desiring can be worn underneath and still look the part of a legion
member).

'Til Later??:action-smiley-030:

I like that idea; I've played legion characters who've had preferences for other armors but are forced into lugging around the legion armor just to get orders. This should solve that problem. :)

I've noticed a tiny-amount of clipping with the shoulders on the
Crimson Countess Dress, though that could be due to the position
of the character.

Its not really clipping as much as it is a small section
of the main body of the dress that did not get alpha'd out
(think of them as unintentional straps :) ). Of course, I have
this fixed now (as was the purpose of my testing them out
in-game so that I could address such glitches that are not
apparent on the meshes when they are not on a character ;) ).

In addition to the Legion robe, I will make versions for Helseth's
Guard and Redorans (with the former not necessarily actually
being placed on the guards, but for player enjoyment, and for
me as well as I like the wolf motif). The Redoran version will
feature Bonemold bits (compatible with texture replacers) as
well as scarves/wraps.

Are you recreating the http://imperial-library.info/gallery/mw_TAoM_p28.jpg then? If so, you may be my best friend in the whole wide world :P

EDIT: I don't suppose you plan on combining this mod with Starfire's NPC Additions so that they wear appropriate clothing as well?

Great idea&concept and very nice addition to the game. The texturing work looks very good, being my favourites Summerset clothes and Count outfit.
I'll be looking on this one closely :)

Those Legion robes look fascinating. I like the use of the Septim dragon. I look forward to the higher ranking versions. Will there be outfits for the Imperial Cult as well? I hope so.

Perhaps the male outfit could be a toga and the female outfit could be a chiton or peplos? (Something like http://images-cdn01.associatedcontent.com/image/A1433/143356/300_143356.gif or http://www.edupics.com/greek-woman-with-chiton-t13309.jpg would be lovely, though preferably of shorter length to avoid clipping, i.e. knee length).

Of course, it would be nice (if un-Roman) if the females could wear togae too, but I definitely would like something like those images above. I have something similar in a really old mod, but I think your skills could make it look glorious: and it would fit the Cult rather perfectly.

And you're eventually planning on doing armor? Lovely: revamped Legion armor would be great too.

Oh yes, I would love to see the Imperial Cult members wearing Roman-style clothes. Just one question about the Legion robes: does that mean we won't see any NPCs wearing Legion armour any more? I rather like the vanilla Legion armour, actually.

No worries, the mod will be modular; so if you want the guards and other Legion officers left untouched, then the modular nature of the mod will accommodate for this :D .

Just a quick note from me as to what is coming next...

I know that I said a bit earlier in the thread that a preview/playable
mod would soon be released (and I still have plans on doing this as
soon as I am able), but I have wanted to make a few more items to
be included in the preview that have put the release on hold (just a bit).
Right now (while I have a bit of time to devote to this) I am making a few
common/universal clothing options (meaning that I would not necessarily
have any race or faction in mind while cobbling them); these would be
separates, not "robes" as I have previously shown. Also, at this very
moment, I am making blacksmith aprons (which are actually pants that
have the apron attached. I have planned on making aprons for some of
the races specifically (Nords, Orcs, Redguards) and a more "generic"
apron to be worn by other races (so consider this one to be the Dark Elf
version ;) ). Again, as with all of these, they will be for both male and females
(and with an additional shirt that can be worn underneath the apron should
one want their smith to avoid the bare chested look/protect their arms
from the embers :D ).

Well. more to come (as always) but I'll do my best not to keep you all
waiting much longer.

Take Care, All

Here's a look at two of the Blacksmith Apron styles
(the basic/standard and the Nordic version)...

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/EFCR/WAR_BLCKSMTHAPRN_m01a.jpg

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/EFCR/WAR_BLCKSMTHAPRN_m02a.jpg

The shirt is one of the optional "tops" that can be worn in
conjunction with the aprons (lest you preferyour smiths to
not be bare chested under the apron). In addition to the
shirt (which will come in several colours with
singed/soot-stained options) will be gloves/bracers that
correspond to the leather used in the actual trouser mesh
(for consistancy). Boots are a possibility (but they will be
cobbled last).

More to come later; 'til then
