[WIPz] *E.C.F.R. Clothing Replacer/Additions

Post » Sun May 02, 2010 1:42 am

That's a brilliant idea - it would make the game a hundred times more immersive. If disposition increases/decreases based on clothing were implemented, it could even help you solve quests using 'disguises' - e.g. Telvanni members might be more friendly towards you if they assume they're dealing with a fellow Telvanni.

In that case Caius Cosades house should be packed full with different clothes and outfits, as Grand Spy Master of the Blades he might have to play other roles other than old addict.

I'm sure he has other hiding places where he stashes his spy gear. After all, he has to make his "house" a believable part of his disguise as well.

This mod sound very interesting. A while ago I was looking from some run down ragged clothing for my character. Something with some dirt on it. If this was around perhaps there would be some of this type of clothing available.

Interesting you should be thinking this. I've recently begun to think we need very unique 'clothing' styles to reflect ethnicity and allegiance, rather than a sort of 'cod medieval'.
I came up with:-

Ashlander (brief but with a cape to protect against dust storms)
Ashlander-assimilated.
Telvanni
Redoran
Redoran-martial
Hlaalu-assimilated
Dres (It's hot and humid down there, so maybe quite brief)
Indoril-Tribunal
Indoril
Imperial-Morrowind
Imperial
Imperial-martial
Tribunal
Dunmer
Dunmer-assimilated
Redguard
Redguard-assimilated
Nord
Nord-expatriate (As we know they find it too hot, so again quite brief)
Breton
Kajiit
Kajiit-slave
Argonian
Argonian-slave

I love the idea of togae for the Imperial Cult. Do you plan on a female version too, or will females in the Cult wear Roman-style peploi instead?

Don't take it personally when anyone takes their time to respond or not respond at all (as the
case may have seemed). Your question was really answered in the first posts of my replacer
thread, so to say it again would have been for naught :) . So rest assured, I was not ignoring
you (and if it seemed so, then I am sorry).

I do not always get to respond to everything, so I have to pick and choose depending on the
time I have available at that moment as to what to answer (so I hesitate to repeat myself).

RL presses hard enough these days, it seems, so I do what I can when I can to provide the
best updates that I am able (and only if there actually is an update). Poking and prodding
has no effect on me (mostly); the only answer that I can ever offer for any given project
(the Head Replacer and this project as well) is:

"It will be done when it is, no sooner or later ;)"

Take Care

EDIT: I will say, as far as this project goes, that I have started with a few specific NPCs
who definitely have a unique look (above class/rank/ethnicity); these are Barenziah and
Helseth (as I have been hard at work cobbling proper royal robes and crowns [including
Helseth's "self-mutilated ears/coverd by cuffs]).

it wasn't so much of a prodding as it was a general inquiry if the author is live and kickin' and if he's doing anything at all (e.g thinking about it once a month) about this mod. glad to hear you're still planning to do it eventually :)

Barenziah's robe is the one I am working on ATM; Think Queen Elizabeth with a touch of Dark Elf (high
collared with and a full bussel with puffy sleeves in deep reds and golds). I will probably keep the colour
scheme that Helseth already has (with the typical royal purple and red with gold accents, but perhaps with
a new twist; I have not gotten far with his meshes yet, as the Queen mother is the main focus for me right
now).

Time for bed (for myself, at least)

I'd find the contrast to be magnificent. The Anglo look of Cyrodiil and the alien look of Morrowind's natives. Just to show how unique Morrowind truly is different from the Empire, both at heart and in life.

I have a different cloak mesh for Helseth (one that is physiqued; you can see the
mesh in action on one of the Valkyries in the MM link in my sig ;) ).

Here is a very quick look at the ALPHA stage of one of Barenziah's robes (I say one, as this
is really a template/pattern in grey scale that I can now quickly make many versions for the
Queen to wear; Canadian Ice's MQB uses a script that that allows the NPCs to change clothes,
so I plan on asking her and HD if I can use the script or modify it so that Barenziah can change
her robe on a whim [such is a Queen's perogative, afterall).

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/EFCR/WAR_BRNZH_ROBE_BASIC1.jpg

Again, this is only a template, as once I have roughed in all of the greyscale shadows
and highlights (with the black areas representing "true shadow" upon which stitched trim
will be placed :) ), it becomes easier to make many more detailed versions/variations rather
quickly (allowing additional elements and ornamentations to define the unique nature of
the additional gowns). The inspiration for the varied dresses comes from one of my favourite
childhood folk tales, Sapsorrow (though I have expanded the dresses/robes for increased variety).

I will post pics of the first finished gown/robe when I am able (and, eventually, the male counterparts).

Later

EDIT: Also, I have finished a few "poor" clothing sets, so I will post pics of those a bit later :)

Here is a look at the first gown for Barenziah (a bit of a Spring Green ATM, but I plan on darkening the colour just a bit :) ).

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/EFCR/WAR_BRNZH_GREENGOWN1.jpg

Lots of lace and tassles on this one, but the subsequent gowns will have very different
detailing (not just recolours of this one; rather, each have unique thematic qualities :) ).

The next one will be a starry/twilight themed (gradients of blue with silver and, of course, stars ;) ).

Later

Gorgeous. Can't wait to see the starry-themed one, it reminds me of my favorite character from The Silmirillion, Fingolfin. :D

I love those tassels. Any idea how the head clipping is going to be with the lace collar?
Looking nice , Westly. :)

It will clip a bit (and especially if you fancy a long hairstyle); Barenziah
has an updo in my revamped incarnation, so such clipping is not much
of a problem for her ;) . The collar is physiqued, so its being able to
move with the character will remedy much of the clipping that would
otherwise occur with a static piece :) . Worst case scenario, I can always
alpha out the areas that would seem to clip the most :D .

EDIT: After a bit of meditation and reflection on the green dress (during my
late evening run), I find that the green is far too verdant; tomorrow I will
update it with a darker shade of green that is less saturated. This will
allow the dress to fit in a bit better with the natural de-saturated feel of
Vanilla Morrowind as well as enhancing the gold detailings (as they recede
into the green colour as it is now; they appear as an extension of the
green rather than than harmonized architectual accents :) ).
