On Clothing

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:16 am

Why can't my female character wear pants (I'm not talking about the leather and blacksmith stuff from oblivion) It upset me that when I went to put on this neat pair of pants that it magically turned into a dress, my female warrior is not going to wear a dress into battle. I'm fine with there being dresses in the game but a female character should be able to wear "male" clothing and heck why not vice versa. (sorry if this has been discussed before)

Havent seen it discussed at all, and glad someone brought it up. I agree, i was tired of being a different gender in OB and put on my favorite quilted vest, only to realise it turned into a blouse. I like the Idea of women attempting to be soldiers.

Agreed. I want to be a girl who wears pants and a guy who wears skirts.

They're called kilts, not skirts. :P

You know the way some people on here obsess on spears? That is the way I obsess on gender neutral garments.

I enjoyed that aspect in Morrowind. How else would the Imperial Guards wear their awesome purple kilt/skirts (Very cool looking, especially with some of the higher tier Imperial sets) if the clothing automatically changed based on gender?

Agreed. The Imperial skirts looked awesome with the basic Legion Steel armor.

Definately. Adds for more NPC personality variations as well.

good point, I didn't really notice it in Oblivion because I played male characters and always wore armor of some kind but now that you mention it that is a bit goofy.

I've always played a male character in my role-playing games so I never gave this much thought. It does seem a bit strange to not allow the female characters to wear pants if that is what they want to do.

I agree. I hated how in Oblivion there were around 200 shirts to choose from for women, but only like 2 pair of pants.

Also, yeah, bring back the skirts for men. I mean, they look good with greaves underneath

I never noticed the female aspect but, I can agree there are some things they can fix with clothes. I know one thing that made me sad as a heavy armor users was the lack of Tabards or anything decorative to add over the armor. Also Daedric was the best. There was no other heavy armor choice or look. It was only hellish looks no option of wearing really cool knight or high end metal looking armor. That is the only thing I ever noticed.

The Huntsmens vest stood out for me when I tried playing a female character. It sure looks different on a female. Don't know if that's bad or good (same with iron armor iirc, not sure on other armors). Let pants be pants and skirts be skirts. Same for shirts/vests.
