[RELz] CLS CraftyBits OBSE 060 Beta

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:18 pm

I just wish for once the so-called "bear furs" that people have modded were actually like those from Bloodmoon and not just vanilla fur with a bear image on the chest. Only one that isn't is Ghogiel's helm.

Sheershaw: The mod already lets you craft all but daedric armor....you just need the proper skills.

As a side note, I noticed in both this and the previous versions that it doesn't seem possible to craft Fine Iron Battle Axes or Warhammers. I could be skill level 75 at armorer and still I get a standard Iron Battle Axe. Yet at skill level 35 I can get a Fine Iron Dagger and War Axe. Dunno why. Plus, is there a way to craft standard bows from Oblivion?

um, I don't believe the standard bows are hooked up to be crafted. That may change soon though.
I think the woodcrafting with the standard and hardwood bows needed to be completed first, plus the armorer script needs an overhaul still to the new system. The main problem was that the crafting board are getting filled and the bow and arrow stuff is on a board not the forge.

Having made bows in RL, the idea of putting a silver barstock on the forge and hammer out a "Silver Bow" makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. I know its a game and a magical world and anything is possible, but that's just so far from realistic that it makes me want to scream. That's part of the reason I wanted to be able to tell what KIND of tree we're getting wood from.

Yew really is among the best bow woods in real life so it makes the best (craftybits) bow in the game. Sinew and hide glue really is used to make laminated bows that are better than their wooden counterparts. In reality a waterproofing agent would be needed to keep the sinew from loosening in the rain- pine pitch might have been mixed with the hide glue, or a layer of oiled leather might have been laminated over the sinew.

We won't even start talking about minotaur horns and turkish bows...

But... I really stopped by to inform everyone that RL is kicking in hard again and I'm likely to be very busy for the next several weeks. I may not even stop by as I'll be traveling a bit, but I'll get to whatever questions / concerns haven't already been addressed when the schedule clears a bit.

In my line of work you have to make hay while the sun shines.

Aloha,
CLS

The game CTD'ed me when I placed the cutting board into the make functional trigger.

Any idea what caused that?

Sounds like you might be using the older version. THe new version allows the player to make something functional by a touch spell, whereas the old had that crappy purple cylinder that sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. The new method, and version, has been a lot more stable from what I have seen. That would be my guess Mesataki, but if you indeed are using the most current version, then I don't know the issue (though I have experienced it myself in the old).

Speaking of bugs, I have noticed that days after I make jerky or bake food on a fire, the place where I did it will have the raw materials sitting there. Once I made a lot of jerky in my house and came home days later and had to wade through venison and pork to get to my bed, lol. I experienced this in both the old and new versions.

Ive been playing for a little bit now, and Ive found a VERY humorous bug.

I am in Captain Tussards ship, and I managed to skin a pirate it seems.

"You have skinned the rat"

XD

Daggers are such a great weapon of choice.

I got a question.

MMM has some crafting options and stuff. Would this replace it?

And then some, yes. MMM's crafting (if I recall correctly) is a bit simpler, though. Less hands on, less realistic, more game-like. If you already use MMM and are happy with the crafting in it, then there isn't any reason to use those same functions in CB unless you want to. CB does more, though, and you might enjoy the other crafting stuff even if you;re still using MMM crafting.

Alright I seem to have figured out a good guess as to why I can skin the pirate.

its a piRATe. and thus because the word "pirate" contains the word "rat" it allows me to skin a pirate and harvest rat fur.

Another bug Id like to mention, whenever I swing my dagger, no matter if Im hitting anything or not, I gain experiance and the endurance of my weapon goes down. Its telling me that I cut up the corpse and have found nothing useable.. which I would say is quite silly as I am often no where near a corpse. ;)

Speaking of cutting corpses though, when do you plan on adding more corpses to cut? I would very much like to be able to chop a skeleton into the bones that make it. :D

THE CB TEAM IS INCREDIBLE!!! This is truely the best mod I have ever used, and I have used it only since .56. Well anyways just wanted to say thanks for making a very addictive game that much more enjoyable while not ruining my social life. and just one question, I cant seem to cut wood logs from trees, anywhere. The wood that you burn in fires for cooking and soap making. Thats the only thing thats making my camping trips difficult, I have to pack in 50 pounds of logs for a week of camping.

The make functional key isn't working for me...although sometimes it'll work. I'm using OBSE 15.

I feel a bit silly, but due to the 'oddball' method I used to install 0.60 before I was forced to do a clean re-install of the game, I've only just realized that the glue plugins from 0.54 are not present in 0.60, notably the VVA Glue plugin.

Can I just use the one from 0.5X with 0.60? I mean, obviously I have no choice, but my question is, will it work properly, since the CB ESM and ESP on which the old glue plugins depend have now changed from 0.54b to 0.60?

The old VVA glue plug will work as well as the COBL ones as nothing was changed in those areas.
Do however use the new .6 esm and esp for Craftfbits as there's been some housecleaning in the esm.

Forgive me if this is not the problem you are having, but...
CraftyBits firewood does not come directly from trees.
Use an axe to chop harvested poles into firewood.
I think hardwood poles give more pieces than softwood.
Game on. :)

Yes, of course-- couldn't be said to have upgraded to 0.60 if I didn't use them :) . Thanks, dewshine.

Any progress on the bathing engine/Bloody Mess/Bathing Mod Simplified glue plugin? Just asking; I'm not in a hurry (yet) :) .

Ever think it might be a problem on your end? The make functional key is pretty vital to this mod's usage, if the mod itself was bugged, just a hunch, but it would probably have been asked by more than just you. You must have a conflict of some kind.

Nope, it wasn't a conflict. I had to keep resetting the key before I could get it to work, but it's working now like it's suppose to.

Sorry, you didn't ask a question. You made a statement.

It does work. Read the readme.

Often times you will have to reset the craftbits key to a different key then switch it back to the key you want before it will set. If you'd asked nicely someone would have answered you. Rating the mod low because you can't read the readme is stupid.

I am checking out this version of Craftybits and I have not used it too often yet but so far it seems cool. The only thing that bothers me is the cooking. It seems to me that it takes too long to bake bread and other things. I will preface this though by saying that the time frame in my game is set to 8. I was wondering if there was a way to make it so that it could adjust to how fast time passes in your game? I thought that something was originally wrong until I started a fire, placed dough and corn into it, and then waiting 1 hour. Both items were cooked so it confirmed that everything works.

Thank you and great mod!!

Wow, much has happened since I vanished into wasting time making a living. :D

Sorry for the absence- still up to my ears in work over here.

Flakinator: good idea. I haven't thought it through, so no promises, but I don't think it would be too difficult. Seems like some clever equation using the time variable would work.

Right, back to video editing...
