Cobl Race stuff Keeps Crashing

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:02 am

Load order is...

Cobl Main.esm
Oblivion.esm
TR_OoT_Main.esm
Cobl Si.esp
Cobl Glue.esp
Cobl Tweaks.esp
Cobl Races.esp
Salmo the Baker, Cobl.esp
VA_BetterGold.esp
SaddleBag.esp
Knights.esp
DLCShiveringIsles.esp
MidasSpells.esp
SkyCastle.esp
Map Marker Overhaul - SI additions.esp
Map Marker Overhaul.esp
Enhanced Economy.esp
Side's Sailing Ships.esp
Serentin Vampire Armors.esp
housemod.esp
Stirk_Compatibility_Patch.esp
MergedMaps.esp
TR_Stirk.esp
Cobl Races - Balanced.esp

after loading menues pop up saying "changing race blah blah" you press OK, but after going through all 4 or 5 menus the game freezes, it eventually makes my whole computer restart. What is going on with this?

It also does it with Crafty Bits, I turned it off to see if I could do one at a time but it didn't matter.

BOSS is not a mod management utility. It is just an automated load ordering tool. Many users use it in conjunction with either and both programs, Wye Bash and OBMM. It is not a supplement for them.

OBMM and WB allow you to sort your load order.

BOSS does it automatically based on a masterlist assembled by community effort. It will immediately give you a workable load order.

It won't guarantee to fix the crash, but it gives you the first step.

The main file, the one at the top.

Edit: Unless you have specific instructions to do otherwise, you should usually download whatever is under "Main Files." If there seem to be multiple version in that section, then you may want to ask which to download if you are unsure.

Hmmm.... It says "Salmo the Baker, Cobl.esp
. Note: MAY cause CTDs. Cause uncertain despite extensive debugging. Disable if experiencing a persistant crash." mabye thats what caused it?

Your load order was not in order, but, yes, that is a valid note. Try running the game with a correct load order before making the final judgment regarding that mod, unless you do not care about removing it.

Edit: Post your new load order, and use Wrye Bash. The Bash LO gives the most information of the available load order listing methods. Right-click on the File tab and choose List mods.

Well It still crashed, even with Salmo off. For some reason when I click on Wrye Bash it doesn't open.

SHould I try loading each one seperately, let it do its changes, save, load the next one, repeat?

Yes, but why isn't Wrye Bash working? How did you install it? Get Wrye Bash working first because you should use it to manage your load order. You cannot fine tune your LO with BOSS. That is not what it is for.

Yeah...that load order does not require Wrye Bash either. I am writing up some installation instructions for WB now, and you can verify your installation of it later. Try the one-by-one thing you suggested and see how it goes...

Ok now my Computer Crashes outside of OB. It will just freeze without warning and try restarting, sometimes windows wont even boot and it will keep restarting then I run the repair mode and I am lucky to be on here right now, It did not start doing this untill after it kept crashing from Cobl. I tried loading Oblivion with out Cobl or Craftybits on and laoded a save before I loaded them and it crashed. I did a performance test and it says the 6To4 Adapters don't work, will this cause a crash?

Your save may have been dependent on them, but I do not know why that would cause your entire computer to crash and restart. Try restarting Windows yourself, by actually using the restart button. You may need to post in the Hardware and Software forum if running vanilla Oblivion does not remedy this issue. Backup your Oblivion.ini and try regenerating it as well...though this problem sounds much more serious...

Yeah...Post in the Hardware and Software forum. They troubleshoot more general computer problems there too, not just Oblivion issues. Post your OS, that screen shot, and a link to this thread (with a brief summary of the progression of events.)
