Collector Edition FNV: Missing items?

Post » Wed Nov 12, 2008 12:58 pm

Just got the Collector's edition and they didn't put the Making of DVD in the box. That was exactly the main reason I ordered it... My luck. Hopefully my luck in the game isn't as bad. Nothing fell out either. Going to see what needs to be done to get that DVD. In the meantime, anyone else missing something in their Collector's box? I have the coin, the chips (made in China wrapper), the Cards, the awesome Comic Book, and the game.... Going to call the store.

For what it's worth, my regular pre-order did NOT come with any pre-order keys. Others are saying the same thing, and yet still others apparently got a key when they shouldn't have.

Sounds like whoever did the packaging for Bethesda on this is full of fail...

Thanks for the reply. Relieved I'm not the only one with a missing item.

I called the store and they told me to bring it in for an exchange, then said they didn't have any spares to exchange, told me to call gamesas directly. gamesas.com

I still have yet to receive my collectors edition from best buy. A little disappointed. One of the options when i bought it was shipping for the day of release. I had a sick day planned and everything.

That is definitely disappointing, even more so. Was your sick day today or tomorrow?

I ordered my CE from amazon.com w/ Release Day Delivery, got an e-mail today stating that it wouldn't be delivered today, then another one stating that I will get it tomorrow.

Lots of problems with actually getting this game so far, eh?

Just something to let people know:
My Wal-Mart was giving out Pre-Order bonuses.

Conversation:
"Enjoy your game, and here is the pre-order code with it!"

"I never pre-ordered the game..."

"Oh, the makers of F:NV told us to give them out!"

I am sure Obsidian never told them to give out Pre-orders.

Walmart will have to pick up the tab on that one probably. I'm guessing for the packaging, they rushed to get everything out the door, or hired an inefficient team to pack everything. Quality control was lacking for the packing.

I'm sure the game will be great though. The comic book looks solid, along with the extras that were included.

Just so you guys know, 90% of the time (recently at least) when a game comes out and offers "pre-order bonus" (which is a big thing now) its not really a bonus for pre-ordering the game. There is usually a card right in the game case that has a download code or whatever to receive your bonus, provided you buy the game in the first week or so depending on sales. Thats how it works at Best Buy anyway (where I work) I remember Gamestop actually handing out cards for stuff like the Baseball bat in L4D2 but I didn't even pre-order that and I still got it. So Yea just double check your game case if you are missing the extra content download info... As for the missing making of DVD...that blows haha hope you added an extra point or two to luck :P

Thats what happened to me. I brought FALLOUT: NEW VEGAS this morning and i was surprised to find a card with a code for the Classic Pack inside the box. Same thing happened with FALLOUT 3 when i got some of radio songs on a separate cd case with it supposedly meant for pre-orders only. Am not one for looking a gift horse in the mouth especially the DRAGON AGE ORIGINS collectors edition strategy guide and art book for 99 cents with my DAO purchase :D

Hot dang! Free stuff for the buy early at retail masses :D

Yea seems to be the new thing so people who work at retailers can't just turn around grab a stack of codes and sell em I suppose. Works for me tho, no pesky preorders to deal with just grab it on release which isn't a problem since I work at Best Buy xD lol

Just bought CE last night and I'm missing the Making of Fallout New Vegas DVD as well. Went back to Gamestop this morning where I bought it and sure enough the replacement box did not have one too. I was told to email Bethesda. What the hell is going on?

Did you get your DVD?

I contacted gamesas numerous times, 1 time through the toll phone 'service' and the rest through free email since Oct 19, the night purchased, after they failed to include the DVD in my box. It's now December 16th, and still nothing. They don't even bother responding to my email requests for some kind of update.

If this is how they treat loyal gamers who spent 20$ extra bucks for an incomplete pack, I'll never order another collector set from them again. Seriously disappointed. It shouldn't take 2 months to process a replacement DVD.

I've given up on trying to get what I paid for considering how they handled the game itself, which is partly broken with all the crashes. gamesas -5. :brokencomputer:

The DVD isn't really worth it. It's just those developer diary videos that are on the Bethesda blog.

There is one small part- like 2 minutes long- which has some of the voice actors being interviewed which is pretty interesting, but beyond that, it's nothing you haven't seen before.

I appreciate that info, thanks. At least I'm not missing much. The game is good, just crashes all too often, which is a shame. This experience shows how unprofessional game companies can be these days.

[Bump thread]

Final Update: (For those who were also missing items)

Original contact to gamesas, Oct 19 by email, next day by phone. Got a couple responses by email and after that, they ignored responding to the next email or so for simple status update questions. I gave up when December arrived. January 5th, in my mail today, they finally delivered the DVD I originally paid for, but they never included in the box. I know it was my word against theirs, but I wouldn't waste my time if I paid for something I didn't get.

The FNV Making of DVD was worth the purchase IMO. 49 minutes, includes 8 chapters:
1 Story
2 Characters
3 Art Direction
4 Game Mechanics
5 Factions
6 Sound Design
7 Technology
8 The Strip

And cool Pip Boy Bobble head menus with language selection subtitles, interviews with the stars/voice actors, original Fallout Team members, tons of footage from the game and some previous games, behind the scenes and some great details I was looking for and didn't want to waste time going online to watch with a slower connection speed. This is what I paid the 20 extra dollars for, and the comic book. The chips are nice with the cards as well.

In the end, gamesas delivered on their original misstep by finally sending my DVD. Just wish they went about it with more courteous customer service. :banghead:
