Collector's edition should come with...

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2011 11:37 pm

I think it would be epic if Bethesda would partner with a company like this:

http://www.figureprints.com/wow/Default.aspx

We could receive a gift certificate for a model of our own, in-game character. It would work like this:

1. You play the game with the character you create... your own features, hair color, etc.
2. You gear up your character
3. At some point in the game, you decide you want your collector's edition statue made.
4. You hit the start button and got to a model prep screen that shows your model in 3d. You can control his pose and view him from many angles until you have him just so.
5. When you are done, you hit send, type in your code that came with the collectors edition and the data is sent to the 3d printing and painting company.
6. A week later, you get your in game character back to you for a display piece

Best pack in ever!!!

Not a dragon statue, as awesome as it would be. It would bump the price way out of my price range, which would make me sad :(.

As for more than one edition, there should always be just a standard, and a collectors, none of these exclusive to Gamestation or play.com deals. I hate those. Means I can't have all the options.

Although I quite like the way Bioware are dealing with DA 2, what with the signature edition if you pre-order before said date, and if the demo is downloaded 1 million times they'll release a download. I really like that.

That signature edition crap is repulsive and I hope Bethesda never pull anything like that.

I can see someone didn't pre-order in time ;).

To be honest, I can see what you mean, a tad unfair on those who don't pre-order but still have full intention on buying it on release. I can see the negative sides to it. However, I much prefer a signature edition to 10 different retailer exclusives. The signature edition is annoying, but you know your getting everything in one box. Although I do believe EA went ahead and pulled the "Dead Space 2" armour thing. Hopefully, Bethesda wont do that .

But why? What didn't you like about the signature edition?

Well for anyone undecided about the game who wants to wait for reviews/the demo, if you decide it looks promising and want to get it you'll then have to pay extra for the Exiled Prince DLC. I wouldn't mind as much but then there's the buy it new to get the Black Emporium thing aswell and myriad other pre-order exclusives/dead space 2 armour/tie in game dlc rewards and the whole thing is just a mess. Luckily, I thought the demo was terrible and doubt I'll be getting it so it doesn't really affect me.

In the poll I love the "Book containing all books in Skyrim" option. :)

I voted art book, soundtrack and making of. Don't really see the point in having a figurine..
Though I suppose a book containing all in-game books would be cool.

Voted book of books (pluss some surprises, whatever they may be, but the book is the most important to me - even Elite 2 Frontier had the Gazetter of short stories in the default game) included in a single edition, and no extra content if there are separate versions (makes hunt for bugs more difficult). I'm really not a fan of collector's edition containing anything that is more "useful" than the default version. Useless figurines and t-shirts making me look like a dork is not something I value. Which is why I would want the book with any edition. It may come as a pdf for the downloadable version, but owning stuff like this is one of the reason I still buy from stores. Call me old fashioned, but reading text in a book is more comfortable than on a screen. And you can bring it to the bathroom where it will live happily ever after :P
