Collector's Edition Worth it?

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 9:01 am

I've never really been big into the TES series, but Skyrim grabbed my attention and I was wandering if I should get the CE edition. So, do you guys think it's worth it?

I voted no, but that's mostly cause a lot of that stuff, though nice, would end up in trash after a while least for me, I'm not to much of a packrat for one

OH and on other hand I'm poor. =^^=

This is a subjective question. It depends entirely on your sense of value. Only reason I'm getting it is because my fiancee' is paying for it, so. . . It's really up to you.

$150 for a burdensome statue and an art book that I'm only going to look at once? No thank you.

It should of came with the soundtrack or DLC codes, and the statue should of been metal, that would of made it worth it, otherwise it should of only been $99.

What idiot decided it shouldn't have the soundtrack?

Yeah go buy it I got plenty of cash. By the way I sculpt virtual landscapes so I could create a fantasy landscape with that statue and draw sketches with the art book. Also I need that poster :obliviongate:

Yes, it's very well worth it.

The question is, is it worth it to YOU? Only you can decide that.

It may vary from one to another, for me it's this way:
- am I a fan? checked
- am I a collector? checked
- can I afford? checked
- do I buy? NO
Something must be wrong in the content/price ratio.

I'll find Skyrim memorabilia after release to fulfill the void of not having the statue. The art book I dont care about...

So imho, no.

Remove the statue and add the soundtrack and I'll gladly pay 80 bucks.

150 though....with no soundtrack and a statue I don't need and I say no. It is not worth it.

Way, Way to expensive. If it was added game material (a lot for $150) maybe.

If you're a diehard TES fan with the money to burn go for it. I voted no though b/c it isn't worth it to me. What happened to the good old days? The PS1 version of Lunar Silver Star Story came w/ a cloth map, sound track, and 'making of' disc bundled w/ the game for no extra cost. :)

No, unfortunately it just doesn't do it for me. Soundtrack, pocket guide, artbook, coins, that's the kind of thing that I desire. A normal collector's edition for a normal price, like OBLIVION. The big plastic toy is just awful.

I only buy 2-3 games per year, the Elder Scrolls is my favourite game series of all time, and in addition, I have a good job. So, with all these things considered and thrown in to the mix, I pre-ordered the CE.

One thing I wouldn't be surprised to see is for these to be actually more expensive on the secondary market, especially if the game is a smash hit. Anybody who thinks they are picking these up cheaply after release is going to be very disappointed!

Things are worth what people will pay, that's simple economics.
