So.....Collectors Edition anyone?

Post » Fri Dec 24, 2010 7:32 pm

Hi, I'm new to the forums, so sorry if this has been asked b4.

So....Will there be a Collectors Edition at all? If so when will we be able to get it?

I like pre-orders that come with in-game content. I buy the game for the game, I pre-order the game for the game and more stuff in it.
I'm alright with a collectors item or whatever but i really want to have in-game content. I know Bethesda didn't, do that with Oblivion, but ah well I can only hope Skyrim comes with bonus stuff.

Would you buy it and what would you like in it?

yeah I got hooked on this in other games. Two things though, maybe Beth just makes a great game and wants everyone to access every cool feature, not just pre-orderers (if that's even a word, and apparently it aint), and i'm not sure how the whole breaking out of jail thing goes. Like "yay I've escaped and wahoo an awesome ring of health regen appears on finger". Could work I guess if you are released and your possessions (including DLC) are given to you. In essence though, I'd be all for it.

Hate the idea myself. You see these items if you pre order from this store, and miss out on the items you get from pre ordering from another store ( Bioware, I am talking to you ). Didn't New Vegas do this with a canteen for HC mode, which was bugged anyway? Anything that has been coded at release should be in the game, Collector's editions should have something cool, and obviously collectable, but not in game content, it comes from the same dark place as on release dlc.

I'd rather see out of game items, like another edition of the Pocket Guide to the Empire. I'm really wanted that Septim that came with the Oblivion Collector's Edition, the Chess Set that came with the Limited Edition Shogun 2 was wonderful, I hope Bethesda give us something worthwhile like that.

As for in-game items, I'm not really much of a fan. They're either overpowered or the developer will eventually release them as DLC after a few months.

I want a big hardcover artbook and a huge cloth map to hang on the wall.

Matters what the collectors edition has. I didn't like the NV one but I will have to wait and see.

I definitely do not want to see in-game "bonus content": had enough problems with Bioware on that front with indifferent content and generally broken mechanisms for activating it.

Traditional collectors' editions are a different matter entirely, though, and the two recent Fallout editions have been rather nice. The various companies out there seem to be upping the ante, too, with Two Worlds II's Royal Edition and Teh Witcher II's Collector's Edition being particularly impressive. So as far as that's concerned, definitely. The more outrageous the better!

Ya no in game bonus, got that for Halo Reach and New Vegas and they lose their spark within the first hour.
I deffinatly would like Posters of Skyrim, The Dovakiin, or Tamriel. Also wouldn't mind figurines.

Since Bioware has been mentioned, perhaps some high quality lithographs might be an idea. Especially combined with the map suggestions: though I like the game box to contain a map, with it being folded it's not really a great display item. I'm always a bit surprised that Bethesda aren't more keen on games-related merchandise.

there is a bethblog article about this fan made book and i believe they will make a deal with the owner and buy the rights to print them and i believe it will be included with a collectors edition like pocket guide the the empire. I love it how bethesda made the septim and the pocket guide seem from tamriel instead of inspired by tamriel. i also hope for a cloth map and a replica of the dovahkiin thats in the background for the wallpaper (mabey ontop of a rock aswell as the dragontail curling around him) and if you look at the riduculus collection sets that fallout 3 they may more than just one (which if so i will get everyone unless its like a small replica like morrowinds)

No in-game items for a collectors edition.I never buy a collectors edition, and I do not wanna miss out on in-game content justbecause the dev's felt like making some extra money on a deluxe version. Feel free to throw in all kinds of RL stuff in a box along with the game.. but no more.

Please don't be a bioware Bethesda your one of my favorite companies to buy from aside from Atlus. Your collector's stuff is always awesome as it is an actual item not some fake piece of downloadable garbage.

There will definitely be some sort of collector's edition. What it will contain, no one knows...

I, for one, am hoping to see some sort of in-game bonus content. A unique sword or set of armor would be awesome. Mythic Dawn armor would be cool. I loved that armor, but since I play on the Xbox I could never mod it in.

Personally I want the most expensive CE they can possibly think of.
Copious amounts of extras(some ingame but no bioware style quests)
Someone mentioned the idea of an actual cloth map of skyrim and Im
still in love with that Idea. As soon as a CE is announced im going all out!

You're thinking too small: a life-size Imperial City would be much better. I think it's possible. A bit.

The Two Worlds Royal Edition was awesome! It had a ton of physical items in it. A large plastic figure, deck of cards, mouse pad, poster, art book, bonus disc with music and behind the scenes info, and they still managed to put some in game items in too. That is how a collector's edition is done. Most of the others seem lame in comparison.

Bioware and EA have been particularly cheap lately with theirs. This time around with Dragon Age II it was ALL digital items. They couldn't even be arsed to put the soundtrack on a disc so even that is a digital download. :shakehead:
