Collectors Edition or Normal/Standard Edition?

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 10:42 am

I haven't tried Dragon Age, Medieval II: Total War, Dawn of War II, or any other relases in the past 2 years or so yet. I just played Saboteur, which cost me $7, and I got the same amount of enjoyment from it as I would have if I bought it for $60.

I envy your self control.

I will be buying the CE unless it has a figurine in it. Stupid figurines. And if it has in game content I'll grumble about it being unfair to the customers who buy the regular edition, but I won't boycott it. Otherwise I'm willing to pay money hand over fist for whatever uber edition Bethesda have planned.

I will probably only get the CE if it contains some downloadable content that I want other than that I will stick to the regular.

I'll get the standard edition.

I don't need all the extras, I only need the game! :D

As long as it doesn't contain a chess board since I'm getting that one already by preordering Shogun2. :teehee:

I'll get CE if it comes out at 11.11.11, otherwise standard.

Definitely getting the collectors edition - likely 1 copy of that and 2-3 other copies for the family.

No way I could way for GOTY. :)

Teh only way I'd get a CE is if it had a great set of rules, all of the formulae, etc. in a nice spiral bound book. Think like the Baldur's Gate games.

Otherwise

It'll be a copy probably a year or two after it's published to save money, see how much mental muscle (opposed to twitchy fingers) the game has, and to avoid the inevitable bugs and flaws of an initial release

CE on my Xbox 360 ftw! Standard edition at a later date for my PC (after some upgrading so I can play at max settings)

If it's ten bucks more, and I get 10 bucks worth of in-game content and a soundtrack or something, then yes, I'll get the CE. Only if I get bang for my buck, I won't get it if it comes with a map or a Septim, as if I'm ever going to use either of those things.

Standard edition, lately all collectors editions of games are really overpriced and generally contain rubbish or stuff definitely not worth the price hike.

I am getting the CE for sure. I may even buy the CE for PC as well, even though my current PC won't be able to run it well enough.

CE if there are any in-game extras, I won't buy it for little die-cast doo-dads.

I really could not wait for the GoTY edition... surely the price is not that different? I will buy it day one, and probably curse and swear over bugs and glitches but love it anyway... and buy all the DLC.

Hmm I dunno.

I'm not too big on boxes for my games, I think I might just buy it on Steam and then play it at midnight as opposed to waiting for it the next day.

Digital distribution is the future!

I think you should add a digital distribution option to your poll

Fingers crossed the servers dont crash on launch!!

Judging by what they did for Fallout 3, I would hope that Skyrim has an insane collectors edition. Maybe instead of a lunch box it could come in something that looks like a large tome with the logo on the front. Inside there could be a statue of a greybeard or dragon or something, maybe a book of art. Hopefully there would be some cool in game stuff like a house or something that could work for all play styles... thats pushing it though.

What ever it is (if it is), it will be fantastic.

Standard edition for sure.

I never get the collectors edition of anything, not really a collector. :)

Whether I buy the collector's edition, the standard edition, or if I buy it at all will depend on what we learn over the next 9 months.

Collector's Edition on day one. I have the CE for both Oblivion and Morrowind and it was so worth it.

It would be an insult to buy the regular edition. CE for me for sure!

Recent collector's editions have been blatant cash gouging "exploit the customers" expeditions. If it's like $10 more, maybe. More than that, probably not. If it contains exclusive in game stuff, I'll be disgusted.

If your looking at a forum for the game months before it comes out, odds are that you're pretty serious about it.

So yeah, collectors edition.
