Hey everyone I'm James
Now I've had Skyrim for about 4 weeks now and i have been easily been able to do everything quests items etc. Now the issue here is i am doing the quest Revealing The Unseen and i have to go back to the college and speak to the arch mage. When i get there there is a magical barrier which the arch mage says attack so i attack it he then goes after that arcano guy and then boom a bright light appears. Mirabella tells me to go find the arch mages body but no quest starts for Containment. I have located the body but the game just goes back to normal like no one cares about the arch mages dead body does anybody have an answer to this if not I beg of u Bethesda please fix this bug to make my Skyrim experience awesome. Also maybe bring in a spell to raise people from the dead and allow them to come back alive. Cheers.

Exit the College and go into the town of Winterhold, where you will find ten Magic Anomalies. After you kill them all, return to the College and talk to Mirabelle Ervine. as far as i know you have to walk down to Winterhold and not fast travel.

Yeah try just walking down into Winterhold and see if the questilne picks itself back up properly.

I had the same thing happen to me. As I was exiting the Hall of Elements (or whatever it's called) a dragon attacked. After defeating it, the Arch Mage was splayed out in the courtyard, dead, but no one seemed to mind. Some characters bend down and proclaim they'd seek revenge but that'd be it. I can't get to the next quest, and it's driving me mad! I hope Bethesda works this bug out pronto!

Is there a solution (PS3)? I was hit by the same bug. Bethesda, pls. help!

Do you have any other Collage quests active? I had the same problem but I had outstanding quests from 2 or 3 people in the college (from the students, not the instructors). Once I completed those I tried talking to the arch mage again and everything worked perfectly (basically "Containment" activated and worked correctly). If you don't have any quests from the college active and haven't completed them, go ahead and get them (you can get them all without having to enter the Hall of Elements because they're in the living quarters), complete them, then try Containment again. I do know that when you're talking to Mirabelle after the explosion, if "Started: Containment" never comes up while talking to her the quest isn't working.

I have the same problem, Any new news on the fix?
Very frustrating, I am going to try finishing a few sub-quests I still have open, then walking into the town.
Hope it works, would svck to have to stall out after going this far in these College Quests.
