Color blind people

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:42 pm

The colors for speech and speech checks. It's basically crippled me on one important aspect of the game. Seriously, yellow, orange and red. The problem is, I'm color blind and some colors blend togather, blues and violets, light greens and yellow, light browns and black, dark reds and browns, dark browns and black and most important in this situation, yellows and orange!

Could we please get a fix for this? Like, really soon?

Doesn't come out until next year, but it might be worth investing in something like this:

Gadget for colourblindness. Allows you to adjust the colours on screen until they enter part of the spectrum you can distinguish or at least have a distinct enough tone.

Now that is really cool! I'm going to have to keep an eye on it and get it once it becomes avaliable. I can count myself lucky, my brother and some friends are so color blind that all they see are shades of gray.

That's stupid. Bethesda is better than this. Even low rent games have colorblind options.

I never expect colorblind options in games anymore but at the same time most games don't make something as imporant as this in similar colors. The worst of it is usually in MMOs when it comes to item rarity using blue and purple. At least they (almost always) list the rarity on the items description. Thats the least they could do here, 1 plus for hard, 2 for medium and 3 for easy. As it is right now, I can't tell the difference between basic speech, easy speech and medium speech. So I just click what I think my character would say and hope for the best.

Im colourblind and its shocking the lack of games that have a colourblind option. Alot patch them in so clearly the demand is there for one

A mod such as this would be very easy to make. Request in on nexus forums just in case, but I believe they will make one anyway.

I'm glad you made a post about this.

I woke up this morning and dorked around the game a bit, checking things out. I noticed there was no colorblind option. I thought there might be somewhere else the option was. But, it's looking like there is none. It's definitely not the end of the world, but when you end up blowing away a orange colored friendly because you thought you saw the color red, it adds a HUGE degree of difficulty. This doesn't really have too much effect in the real-world, but when you are looking at a backlit monitor trying to display colors, it can be damn near impossible.

This is coming from FPS experience. COD games (before they added the colorblind modes) were insanely hard when teamkill was turned on. Instead of seeing a color and blasting, I had to look at the uniform they were wearing and ID the enemy from that. The addional time it took to ID a target and drop them definitely set me back in the leaderboards.

Maybe that could be the next difficulty settings in games.. Colorblind mode. All the friendlies are red, enemies are red, and quest NPCs can be red.

Easy < Normal < Hard < Extreme < Survival < Colorblind

Friendlies are orange? I thought they showed as yellow! This is exactly why games need color blind. Maybe we should band togather and get congress to declear color blind as a disability, then developers would have to include color blind options or face the wrath of the disability act. Maybe an extreme, sure, but I think it makes my point.

I'm red/green colourblind myself, not to a huge degree, but enough that I have difficulty with coloured text on coloured backgrounds sometimes. Guess I'll have to wait till I get the game later to see how much it affects me.

I too hope Bethesda take note and either patch in a colourblind mode, or at the very least keep it in mind for future releases.

FYI: Sport Interactive, the makers of the Football Manager series of games, used to actively ask for help from the FM community with colourblind testing and input. I'd happily help Bethesda out with colour palettes in the future, as I'm sure plenty of others would.

Hi - Just want to add my voice to the request for some colourblind options.

I have almost total Deuteranomaly and partial Protanomaly. So, yeah - quite colourblind.

I cannot see any differences in the dialogue options - which is a shame because I'd decided to spend most points on Charisma lol. Might need to start again with some other S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

Also - apparently there is green and yellow and red objects when base building or recovering stuff. Again - cannot see the differences, and it can be hard to see if an item can be placed or not.

Please Bethesda could you consider helping us!!

Thanks!

Thanks EpicFail. I am aware of EnChroma and have taken the test but there is only a chance that they may help me. Also, they are crazy expensive with the weak currency in my country - the equivalent of 2 months rent, so can't actually investigate further at this point. My son has promised to buy me a pair when he starts working bless him...

Thanks Danny - have submitted a request under In-Game Support > Environment. I'm guessing they'll be busy for a while before they can help with this one.
