Columbia IC - A Capital Wasteland Roleplay Thread 4

Post » Fri Jan 03, 2014 7:08 pm

It is 2082 and after five years, the Capital is changing. The Brotherhood with the support of the Lone Wanderer assaulted Raven Rock and destroyed the base. Yet in the light of the attack, the Enclave launched a counterassault upon Citadel with its Vertibirds killing many of the Brotherhood members. The Enclave retreated to Adams to heal and the power of Lyons Brotherhood was weakened.

In the next five years, factions have risen to dominance as city states. Megaton has grown larger while the Outcasts are readying for an attack on the weakened Lyons Brotherhood over its long doctrinal differences. Tenpenny Towers grew to absorbing the Warrington Train yard/Station becoming a regional power while Girdershade has grown into powerful trading hub for incoming Eastern traders, and similarly Canterbury Common becoming a Hub for all Capital Wasteland trade. These city states have grown in large power, becoming inlfuenctial in the Capital wastes. In the end, a storm is brewing as each faction whether or not, set their sights upon claiming Columbia, and sitting upon its thrones ruling its entire lands.

Dr. Abraham Zollard- Adams Air Force Base, Mobile Crawler Archives Room

Ever since the failure of his most recent cognitive robotics experiment, Dr. Zollard had been pouring over the records in the Archives Room within the Mobile Base Crawler. Before Raven Rock had fallen, the great majority of the massive amount of archival data contained within it was transferred successfully to Adams Air Force Base. Some of it had already been backed up for just such an eventuality as the calamity faced when Raven Rock fell. Had the archives fallen along with their home, it would have been just one more great tragedy to have befallen the Enclave. The archives were an invaluable source of information and included records going as far back as before the Great War, and even some which included pre-war Government documentation. To lose such a resource and knowledge base would have been devastating to future research.

Currently, Zollard was searching for any and all information related to the Robobrain program and its associated successes and failures. While most of it was insightful in some way, very little told him more than what he had already known and none of it gave information concerning the improvement of the program. For all its wealth of information, the archives were incomplete regarding many research and development projects from before the war. The robobrain project and cognitive robotics in general being one of the poorly covered topics.

"Useless," Zollard said angrily as he clicked through a page on one of the archives' terminals, his temper was beginning to get the better of him. The frustration of the few hours he had spent here with little to show was wearing down his nerves.

Giving up on the terminal, Zollard walked over to the pre-war data section, on a whim, of which many of the documents within it were not digitized and still contained paper-copies filed into a great number of file cabinets. Opening one which he thought might be the most relevant, he soon stumbled upon a rather intriguing file report. The header of the manila file read in faded black lettering: "Reports from the St. Aubin's Medical Facility, Point Lookout, MD."

Interested, Zollard opened the file and to his surprise found what amounted to a gold mine of information,

"June 27, 2076: Dr. Calvert," Zollard whispered to himself as he began reading through the report documentation, "Has arrived at the St. Aubin's Medical facility. His expertise on Cognitive Robotics will most assuredly be beneficial to the project's success..........how very interesting."

For the better part of the next couple hours, Zollard read through the entire contents of the folder. By the end of the final report from St. Aubin's he had stumbled upon something which he knew deserved a much more thorough, and in person, investigation. Taking the folder with him, Zollard immediately returned to his office within the Crawler, and grabbed his phone: attempting to reach the office of his Excellency. A secretary for the office picked up,

"Yes this is Dr. Abraham Zollard," He began, "Director of Research and Development by his Excellency's recent orders. I'd like to make an immediate appointment to speak with his Excellency as soon as he's available regarding a proposal."
