Comapanion + Skills

Yes i know certain companions do certain things for you. The doc heals your health quick, so on. But those are there perks for being with you. What about there skills. The doc is a scientist so, how bout he specializes in Hacking. So that you can concentrate on other skills. Say you would pick the lock into a room (you have 100 lockpick skill but 25 hacking skill) Then you find a terminal that opens a vault door to an armoury of wepons. Problem is your science skill is not high enough, you can not hack. So then your companion uses his knowledge and hacks it for you... All you have to do is make sure he isnt caught in the maybe 1-2 min that he takes to hack.

What do you guys think? Is this gonna be in game? Should it be in game?

Its an interesting concept, but I doubt the companions are going to be that in-depth...

While it was in Fallout 2, I'm not sure if it'll be in New Vegas. However it would be nice if it was in.
However if they do put it in, and if they also let the NPC Companions skills increase they should do that automatically depending on the companions template, we should have no controlling input into what the NPC companions skillpoints are put into.

I agree. We should have 100% control of our own character, but 0% control of the companions, in terms of levelling and skills.

Precisly what i mean. The doctor specializes in science... A.K.A Hacking. The supermutant farmer, lilly is stealth perk so give her upgrades to stealth and lockpicking. And depending on the companions background depends on there skills!
