Combat Balancing

Are you going to update your list?

Just did a token update. I've decided to give the list an overhaul to include the following things:

1. The name and author of the mod
2. Links to the mod download and its latest thread
3. Description of exactly how the mod can be expected to affect the balance of your game
4. Description of possible conflicts/incompatibilities with other mods on the thread.

If you think of anything else that might be important to include, speak up.

I'll be working on updating the list over the next week or so. And please feel free to voice suggestions.

This is a good idea. The update to the first post would make this thread become a modlist like Delte's Thread of Immersion Mods... Just for combat balancing.

Now I have a question: reading throught the posts I noticed that there are a few mentions about two mods: Expanded Spellmaking and Enchanting Enhanced, but I never heard about them, neither I can find them. Can you please give me a link?

About Advanced Magecraft: I don't recommend it just because it can be largely abused and gives you an huge advantage on your foes (ex: a ring which summons an army of daedra). I personally prefer http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24915. Install it after Supreme Magicka and during the installation of SM don't make it create unenchanted staffs, let do this to Enchantment Mastery which does it in a better way in my opinion.

EDIT: Typos

I second the motion about Advanced Magecraft - maybe not so bad if you are already most of the way up the MG ladder or a master mage, but otherwise it is a cheat mod.

I'm not happy with mods that don't take character progression into account and give too much at once.

I've also not found a mod that makes learning from scrolls anything but a cheat too and that goes for http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18072 too. Enchantment Mastery does not have scroll learning so I may setting for that one.

So uh, if there's a birthsign and race mod party going on...

Oh, and Fizzle should probably be investigated if you're focusing on magic mods. :)

Ah, imput received and accepted. Looking more closely at what it does, I can definitely see the point. I'll probably remove Advanced Magecraft and possibly Enchantment Enhanced as well. Will look into Enchantment Mastery. Thanks.

Sure thing! Here's http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18072 and...umm...huh. I guess I can't find Enchanting Enhanced either. I might have been taken down.

Oh Tejon, I wouldn't forget you! : :lmao:

Thanks for the link. :)

As for Races and Birthsigns mods I tried Race Balancing Project for an year and it works very, very well. A must have mod in my opinion. But tejòn made two interesting mods (TRAP and Birthsigns Expanded) so I decided to test them. I am currently installing, so I cannot tell you which combination is better, but tejòn's mods look pretty balanced and lightweight. (Still, I don't like the huge drawbacks the Shadow birthsign has, making it too difficult to play. The others are perfect, with balanced pros and cons, and changing the gameplay for each birthsign chosen).

You can still use another birthsign or race mod over RBP it is all about load order.

For races that alter the main vanilla ones just load after RBP for the effects and I think you could still gain the benefits of RBP populating the lists with new races it has. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that would work.

For Birthsigns just load the other mod after RBP and have them both loaded at character generation. Loading one later without going through the birthsign chargen portion will cause funkiness. Either both powers or one not active at chargen gets blocked. If you decide to remove another birthsign mod and keep RBP then RBP has a simple console command to revert back to its race and birthsign powers. Very convenient and described very recently in the RBP thread.

I don't know of any enchanting enhanced only enchantment enhanced - but the two not linked so far are http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24915 and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14750. Since I'm using http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31918 in my current load order which blocks all spell buying the need to either make or acquire spells through alternate means suddenly is important.

Don't worry about it. It was Enchantment. In the previous posts there were bad typos. That's why I didn't find it.
Thank you :foodndrink:
