I just recently bought this game for PC during the steam sale and for the first day it played perfectly. I decided to install some mods and this caused my game to randomly crash ( I'm guessing this was from a load order issue). After this happened i decided to wipe the game completely from my PC and reinstall it and just play a clean vanilla game without mods. everything plays fine until i leave docs house but if i attack anything outside (the bull things or the grasshoppers in the old school) the game immediately freezes and when i attempt to close it out it stays open and will not close even when i attempt to end process with the task manager. I am 99% sure i cleared everything when i reinstalled since i deleted my whole Fallout New Vegas folder in the steam apps / common directory and even went so far as to delete my saved games files. I have also attempted to re-install again thinking i may have a corrupted install but after 3 attempts at complete wipes and re-installs I think i am missing something since i am getting the same crash every time.
My PC has these stats which i am sure are more then enough to run it since it recommends that i play on high settings
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Quad Core 2.5GHz
4 gigs of RAM
Nvidia GTX 560 Ti graphics card (which i just purchased a week ago so I am fairly certain my drivers are up to date although i did install them off the disc so this could be the issue, not that advanced on the computer knowledge so if u think this is the issue please let me know)
Not sure what other information would help finding a solution but any help would be greatly appreciated i would really like to play this game with some of the great user created content and i jumped the gun and purchased both of the DLC (which cost me more then the game during the sale). Anyways thanks in advance for any advice anyone has on how to fix this problem
