I was wondering if they were going to fix the problem with combat where when you hit a oppent they don't react at all.

You think skyrim is better? It's the same wishy washy combat without much use for stamina and magica.
Are you serious? This is even more ridiculous than the guy who said that Morrowind isn't canon.
Well, you use magic if you're playing a magic oriented character.
I think everybody is entitled to an independent opinion.
I didn't see how it could be "improved" from Oblivion, except with the addition of killcams (However, most of these don't work properly with your avatar normally ends up wrenching a sword through thin air most of the time. That does seem to break the climix sometimes.
I still think it was improved, but I respect that opinion.
I don't know about 'better' but it was more balanced, like when you hit an opponents shield in OB, you actually get thrown back a bit, in skyrim you can repeatedly whack someone who's blocking until they die.
can we all stop humoring this thread please
Im not humouring it, people can have whatever opinion they wish. Even if you think it is ridiculous.
Why do you think his opinion is ridiculous? there's not a lot of difference between the two combat systems.
I think it's better in Oblivion too, but for more practical reasons.
OP is entitled to his opinion, but this:
is just freaking ludicrous.
Why is it? there's a lot of words being slung around in this thread but no one is really backing them up. In OB you use stamina to power attack, normal attack, and stamina goes down if you get hit while blocking. You only use stamina to power attack in skyrim.
And to shield bash. Also, in OB once you level up block it no longer takes stamina. And if you plan on being a warrior (esp 2-handed) you absolutely need those power attacks.
And what's that about not needing magicka?!
Well, regardless of facts, everyone including for and against should be able to put their opinion out there. I respect both schools of thought, because they both have factors relating to them.
He's right. In Oblivion you get stagger and the enemy actually block properly.
In Skyrim they just stand there like noobs.
This all boils down to the noobs who believe Morrowind best game ever due to complexity (which it doesn't have) and Oblivion a bad bad game.
I haven't played Oblivion for ages! If i recall, one of the better aspects of it, was that you could cast spells with weapons/shield in both hands which is something Skyrim lacks. But other than that i think Skyrim's combat is good & don't recall having any major issues with Oblivion's. But then i'm not so much a melee orientated player
I'd like to play Oblivion again sometime, with mods.
@ underdragon - Morrowind was more complex as there was a diverse amount of equipment & spells etc... compared to what has come after i.e you'd need to mod Skyrim to get closer to what Oblivion had in it. And i loved Oblivion, it was the game that got me into RPG's
...when you switch off your monitor and listen to the sounds.
I agree with you there Sir.
There are two things I like about Oblivion's combat. First person camera doesn't move at all each time you press an attack(No I don't suffer nausea. It's just annoying), and you can use magic while welding Melee & Shield.
The flaw in the comparison made in both posts is that these guys are putting the carriage before the horses.
You have to buy the game first.
And your stamina does go down when you're blocking hits.
